Monkie Notes - Howdy Monkie folkies!
It's been quite the long and chaos filled week. There
was a bit of network downtime among other things. So
this update will be brief. There are some Software
Updates in the side column, but other than that,
I'm pretty much gonna call this good and retreat to
a place
called sleep!
Before I hit the pillow, there is one
last quick note: From time to time there are devious
little web gremlins
posing as someone they are not. Not only as MacMonkies,
but as any site's name they wish to tarnish. We will never engage
in such activities -- such as spam, sending virus infected
e mail, and so on -- EVER. Even our mail box has been hit
with questionable material that was addressed from us!
So, if you are ever hit with questionable material that
appears to be from us, it is not. Furthermore, if you would
like, feel free to contact us at any time and we will do
our best to clear up any questions you might have.
Until Monday, have fun, drive safe, and have
a splendifferous weekend!

The Top: -
G' day, folks! Let's jump right to some announcements:
We recently mentioned that
we made some "big"
changes around
MacMonkies.
To put it in a coconut shell, we have tripled our size
in storage space as of May 1st. This will give
us room to grow. Also to be added is some long overdue
features, such as a language translation page for our
viewers in other countries.
There is much more to mention, but we don't
want to cut into the time slot of your favorite Monkie feature:
The Friday Icon Edition!
As always, there's bunches of fun with cool icon design,
News, and Bananas. So keep your eyes peeled for further
Monkie announcements and let's get to the GOO!
New

same name. Once you get a view of this great set,
you'll "go crazy. Let 'er rip!"
Steve
Ansell - With his latest set of icon pleasers,

DownloadCheck -
In response to the recent threat of a new Mac virus
that is said to completely
wipe out one's Home directory, The
Iconfactory's veteran
programmer Craig
Hockenberry has written
a new freeware utility called DownloadCheck.
This cool tool checks for applications in user's
Downloads folder. Although its highly unlikely Mac
users will encounter a virus
masquerading
as an application, it is always best to be prepared.
Get yourself over to The
Iconfactory and grab your
free copy of DownloadCheck.
Don't leave your "Home" without
it!
The iPod Battery

of $99.95 and is said to provide up to 40 hours of music
play-time or download time. It can be charged over 400 times.
At 40 hours per charge, that's 16,000 hours of run time
from The iPod Battery! For all the details and to get your
iPod all charged up with the iPod

PONDEROUS NOTIONS
If it's tourist season,
why can't we shoot them?
What was the best thing
before sliced bread?
Do blind Eskimos have seeing-eye
sled dogs?
If you shoot a mime, should you use
a silencer?
Why
do they sterilize needles for lethal injections?
Why
is there an expiration date on sour cream?
What

SHOE STORE
Once there were two chinese
gentlemen named Mr. Ho and Mr. Chen. They were
neighbors but happened
to be very competitive.
One day Mr. Ho decided
to start a shoe business, he named his store
WE DO SHOE.
Mr. Chen decided he must compete
with
Mr. Ho, so he started a shoe business right
next door to Mr. Ho's store and he named it SHOE
DO
WE.

Trippin'
With Apple - When packing bags for
summer vacations there is no need to take the kitchen sink.
There are, however,
a few digital necessities that people will dreadfully miss
if left behind. First on the list for sure fire fun in
the sun is a musical must-have, none other than the iPod.
It's size makes it perfect for toting around on the beach
or wherever else you may go. Not so easy to tote, but still
necessary, is a powerbook to organize all those digital
photos of the trip. - from MacObserver
Gaming For The Grade - If parents can't get
their kids to stop playing video games, why not join them
by creating games that sharpen critical thinking skills?
This is the view of some parents, like Henry Jenkins, whose
son learned all about elections through a video game he
was playing. Then when a real-life election occurred he
applied all the knowledge he had. Schools already have
computers and kids already game. Maybe if the two come
together education could be improved. - from Wired

G'DAY MATE

shady repute, the luckless customer unpacked his new
toy and plugged it in to find it Dead On Arrival.
Naturally,
after checking the usual things, he called the dealer
and explained his problem. First question
from Deviously Evasive Dealer: "Did you check
to see whether the power was on?"
"Of course."
DED: "Did
you open the cover and check whether any of the boards
had shaken loose in shipping?"
"Of course."
DED: Then why are
you calling me?"
"Well, you sold it to me and there has to be some kind
of warranty," pleaded the frustrated purchaser.
"Of course there is," replied the DED, "But
you voided the warranty when you opened the cover."

BLONDES AND CONVERTABLES
Two blondes were
shopping at the mall. When they were done, they went out
to their car, which happened to be an awesome
leather-interior convertible, but they realized they
had locked the keys in the car. So they both kind of
stood there and thought for a while.
Then one of the girls
had the bright idea to try to open the car with a coat
hanger, so she started fiddling with
the lock. The other blonde looked up at the sky, became
very worried, and pleaded:
"HURRY, HURRY,
IT'S GOING TO RAIN AND WE LEFT THE TOP DOWN!"
