New
GOO! New
Desktops - Oh my gosh! What a wonderful selection
of 6 Spiffy Desktops are ready to roll for this week's
Christmas Eve Desktop Edition. Let's put on the party caps
and do the Boogie!
Desktops - Opening up this
week's Gallery of GUI goodies is our latest artistic
contributor Beverly Martin
with a wonderful piece titled Anacortes
II. This outstanding pic is a photo that
was taken from Washington Park near Anacortes, WA overlooking
the San Juan Islands in Washington State. Though she used
a fine piece of hardware with a Sony DSC F707 digital
camera, we all know it was her fine eye that made this
number so special!
Etc. - Doin' his festive
thing Holiday style in a Big New York way is Mr.
James "I
Got You Covered for the Holidays" Naylor.
This year we get a double whammy from James' photographic
eye. New
York Christmas is a snapshot of a beautiful
Christmas Tree somewhere in New York, that just
happens to be planted on a man's head if you look
really close!
Meanwhile, another selection by James titled American
Christmas captures
all the elements of the Holiday with traditions
all
American
style.
Quite the breathtaking backdrop for your desktop's
festivities!
From the Honorable Scott Chitwood ™,
the Man ™,
the Myth ™,
the Legend ™,
the
Guru of GUI ™, the Creator of the C Major
Scale ™...???? Okay, okay! That's a little much!
But the man from Rampant
Mac and ResExcellence knows his GUI stuff
and Tannebaum
2003 displays his festive spirit and
awesome abilities this Christmas Season!
Now, we can't say that the Monkie Man has
had much of a creative streak for
this Holiday Edition, but he did have time to update
a couple of all time Monkie
favorites! MacMonkies' Bradford
Wiles has invited one of the Boss Brothers for a Christmas
appearance. Tigger keeps the grumpy Monkie in line with
a friendly
reminder not to be such a tight wad with Scrooge.
This great piece has been updated to include a 1280 X
1024 offering.
And
finally, also being updated to the bigger Tigger size
at 1280 X 1024 is a simple Seasonal message from all
at MacMonkies: Merry
Christmas! And to all of you, a most blessed
Christmas. Enjoy!
Thanks
Department --
Beverly,
Scott, and James...
Thank you
for sharing a great GUI Christmas with the world!
You're
the best !!

THE FIRST CHRISTMAS?
What did Adam tell his wife on December 24th
?
It's Christmas! Eve.
USIN' YOUR NOGGIN'
Rick is a paramedic
here in Miami. A few years ago he answered a call about
a man who
had a head injury he got when some teenagers were throwing
eggs at cars. It seems that the egg had come
through the
open window of the man's car as he was driving at about
45 mph. He had a large swelling on his forehead. In the
official
report, Rick described
the incident as an "egg-noggin."
CHRISTMAS SMITTEN
What happened when Santa's cat swallowed a ball of yarn?
She had mittens.
THE TENTH REINDEER
Billy: How come you never hear anything
about the tenth reindeer, Olive?
Tilly: Olive?
Billy: Yeah, you know...Olive
the other reindeer, used to laugh and call him names.

iPod In Global
Demand - UK stores
have been selling the iPod as fast as they get them
in. The holiday demand has been overwhelming as people buy
out the biggest music gadget to ever grace the stands. Whether
buying the gadget as a gift or otherwise, the effect has
been now you see 'em, now you don't. Some stores that have
sold out are resorting to taking orders for iPods to be
delivered after the holidays. When it comes to the iPod,
it's better late than never! - from

Gifts
Given To Garbage Man - A problem presented itself
recently in Utah when a garbage sack of gifts accidentally
got taken out with the trash. A woman was ready to mail
the gifts to an all but orphaned girl in Oregon when she
realized what had happened. She rushed to try to retrieve
it, seeking a lending hand from those at the landfill. Workers
were then able to dig the bag out of the rubble. Luckily,
since the bag had been dumped but not crushed, the gifts
and the girl were still good to go.

Odds and Ends
Losing Your
Head!
The male praying mantis
often loses his head – literally – after courting
the female. The latter is known to decapitate the earnest
suitor, and she often completely devours him. Ummm,
I don't think I likes this idea.
The Things The
Kids Said
Roy (the poet) said,
"Egg. Table. They don't rhyme!"
When driving out in
the Kalahari Desert, Victoria noticed the mirages. She said,
"It looks like water but it's not. It's just a garage."
After his mother pointed
out that his underwear was on backwards, Roy replied, "No,
I took the label off so I can wear them however I like."
Charity calls panties
"puppies."
Last night we had the
musical Christmas lights going. During one of the songs,
Victoria asked, "What's this song?" Her daddy
answered, "What Child is This?" There was a pause,
then Victoria said, "It's Victoria."

Pong!
- In 1962, University of Utah student Nolan Bushnell received
his first exposure to video games, playing Spacewar in the
University's computer lab. Bushnell spent the next 7 years
trying to reproduce Spacewar on a smaller, less expensive
computer. When it was finally completed in 1971, Bushnell's
Spacewar variation (dubbed "Computer Space"),
bombed. People found it too complicated. Bushnell gave up
on it, quit his job at Ampex, and founded Atari in 1972.
Bushnell originally wanted to name the company Syzygy, but
the name was already taken by a roofing company. That same
year, Magnavox quietly released the Odyssey, the first home
video game system. It had a game similar to Pong, and Magnavox
later sued Atari (successfully) for "copying"
it.

ALPHABET CHRISTMAS
What is the difference
between the Christmas alphabet and the ordinary alphabet?
The Christmas alphabet
has No L.
CHISTMAS SIGNS
Toy Store: "Ho,
ho, ho spoken here."
Bridal boutique: "Marry
Christmas."
Outside a church: "The
Original Christmas Club."
At a department store:
"Big pre-Christmas sale. Come in and mangle with the
crowd."
A Texas jewelry store:
"Diamond tiaras -- $70,000. Three for $200,000.
A reducing salon: "24
Shaping Days until Christmas."
In a stationery store:
"For the man who has everything... a calendar to remind
him when payments are due."
RAIN, DEAR
There once was a czar
in Russia whose name was Rudolph the Great. He was standing
in his house one day with his wife. He looked out the window
and saw something happening. He says to his wife, "Look
honey. Its raining."
She, being the obstinate
type, responded,"I don't think so, dear. I think it's
snowing."
But Rudolph knew better.
So he says to his wife, "Let's step outside and we'll
find out."
Lo and behold, they
step outside and discover it was in fact rain. And Rudolph
turns to his wife and replies," I knew it was raining.
Rudolph the Red knows rain, dear!"
