Smirk of the Day: Even Odder - Harry and Martha were sitting down to their usual morning cup of coffee listening to the weather report coming over the radio. "There will be 3 to 5 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your cars on the odd numbered side of the streets."

Harry got up from his coffee and replied, "Well, okay."

Two days later, again they both are sitting down with their morning cup of coffee and the weather forecast is, "There will be 2 to 4 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your cars on the even numbered side of the streets."

Harry got up from his coffee and replied, "Well, okay."

Three days later, again they both are sitting down with their cup of coffee and the weather forecast is, "There will be 6 to 8 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your cars on the..." and then the power went off and Harry didn't get the rest of the instructions.

He said to Martha, "What am I going to do now, Martha?"

Martha said, "Aw, Harry, just leave the car in the garage."

A Better Finder Select 3.3 - Just announced from the folks at PUBLICSPACE.NET is the release of A Better Finder Select 3.3, a Macintosh Finder enhancement. This made for Mac tool is a contextual menu plugin for the Macintosh Finder that allows power users to filter file selections based on a range of criteria. Version 3.3 allows A Better Finder Select to be used as a file selection gateway for A Better Finder Rename, Attributes and Creators & Types. G5 Makes Top 25 - Fortune Magazine has found Apple's Power Mac G5 to be one of the finest products fashioned last year. It has been featured on their list of "The 25 Best Products of the Year." Fortune praises the speed of the machine's processor, as well as its easy mobility by using the handles. At The Top - Wholey smokes, folks! It's already Wednesday and that means time to change my sox! Well, not really. They can always wait a couple more weeks. But...In the mean time I think it's time to steer clear of the smelly subject and move right on to the good news of this week's Wednesday Desktop Edition. And boy howdy, there's some fine lookin' "wallpaper" wonders for your eyes to behold. I won't hold you back any longer. Let's get to the News, GOO, and Banana juice too!

New Desktops - If you're like a certain Monkie we all know about, you don't have to put the peanut butter in the fridge to chill out! All you have to do is kick back and relax while we pull out the following 5 Cool New Desktops, and you're sure to find a GUI grin from ear to ear appear on your face and your desktop. Let's have a look!

Fun - Shhhhhhh! Be vehwy vehwy quiet! The wabbit is sweeping! Er, guess in pwoper Engwish, dat would be a Sleeping Rabbit! Ah, but regardless of how you say it, this pic serves up a whole lot from Flameia Design's Julia Nikolaeva. In all actuality, there's a similarity between the rabbit and how I look after Thanksgiving dinner. Cool carrots!

 

Desktops - Master desktop crafter Ed Allen slips in after a tad bit of hiatus and dazzles your desktop eyes with Same Old Red. Does the title imply the same ol' song and dance in digital dining from EA Design? By no means! 'Old Red' will have your desktop appetite satisfied for quite some time to come!

It's like thunder! It's like Lightning...Well, you won't need to knock knock knock on wood once you get your hands on this flashy desktop design by Jameson Sasser. This bright blue work of craftsmanship is gonna add some high voltage to your viewing X-perience. All of this with no extra charge. What more could you ask!

Those other infernal machines have Windows, but now there are Doors for your Mac! William D. Thompson adds a touch of Spanish colonial class to your Mac with Correo, a snapshot of San Miguel's doors that date from the 1700's. This is but one of the many desktop door opening beauts you'll find in William's gallant galleries!

 

3-D Rendered - Once again we find MacMonkies' Monkie Master Bradford Wiles with his head in Another World. He also needs a lesson or three on how to remind his coconut brain to hit the Save key combo a bit more regular, as this Bryce pic turned out a bit different than its original wire frame rendering. But regardless of the memory lapse, it didn't turn out too bad after all was said and done. Enjoy!

Apple: Holiday Hot Spot - As Christmas comes closer and closer, people are not only checkin' their wish lists, but checkin' out the Apple website! Nielsen/NetRatings has reported that Apple.com had the most vast amount of visitors for the week ending November 16, 2003. Guess they must be grazing by Apple's Holiday Gift Guide, if not actually purchasing products. And that would be plenty of purchasing power given that the head count -- or click count -- was 4.5 million! - from Internet Retailer

Tiny Woman Tops Turkey Eating Contest - A 106 pound woman was able to out stuff her 400 pound competitors in a Thanksgiving Invitational last week. Thirty six year old Sonya Thomas stuffed in almost eight pounds of Thanksgiving food in twelve minutes, and she still had room for more! When asked what her secret was, she simply said she eats fast. Thomas won two airline tickets, a turkey statue, and said she planned to eat even more turkey for Thanksgiving. She don't sound too tiny anymore! - from Excite
