At The Top
- How do! Hope all is well on all corners of the web. Turkey
Day is just around the corner and we're sure you'll be fillin'
your faces with all those Thanksgiving eatin's. But until
tomorrow comes, we've got some good GUI treats to stretch
out your bellies with this week's Wednesday Desktop
Edition.
Fine dining in desktop design packaged with News and Bananas
for dessert. Let's dig in!
New GOO!
New Desktops -
And the winner is...YOU! With 5 New Desktops on hand for
your eye candy consumption, there's no better way to fill
that sweet tooth craving! Let's break some teeth and get
to munchin'!
Desktops - Oh yeah! You're
gonna love this one from RAMASJANG's Jack
Juliussen! Helgoland
is a fantabulous photo of an old bathing establishment
over yonder in Jack's neck of the woods. This is a great
selection from the RAMASJANG stash and will clean
up your desktop quite nicely!
One of the few artists I know that can
take a minimal amount of pixel color and turn it into
a desktop
work of art is burntcanvasdesign's Alan
Sherwood. Fleabitten
is a fantastic minimalistic piece from his series of
the same name that is by no means a work to be thrown
to the
dogs. Excellent piece!
¡Prepárese
para el partido! It's time to liven things up with a
colorful piece from
William D. Thompson titled Fiesta.
This festive selection snaps a glimpse of native dance
groups that celebrate a special day on the first Thursday
in March to honor El Señor de la Conquista.
You're certain to have your desktop dancin' with this
hot number!
3-D Rendered -If you want
to lift your spirits high and skyward, Enlightenment
by Juergen Eilts is just the work of digital art to get
the job done. From the galleries of ShiftedReality,
this natural forestry was created with Worldbuilder 3.5
and adds plenty of inspiration as one looks toward the
heavens.
And of course, bringing in the Monkie rear
(quite literally) is the MacMonkies'
Master of Madness himself: Bradford Wiles. All
Wrapped Up is a simple, perhaps typical Bryce
piece, but the pale blue adds a sense of serenity to calm
the digital storms and wrap yourself up in digital delight.
Enjoy!
Thanks

iPod Protection
- Apple and Windows users alike will be pleased to know that Apple
is providing padded protection for people's iPods with AppleCare.
This is the first time Apple has offered an extended warranty
on any product besides their desktops and powerbooks. For
a small, one-time fee AppleCare will allow phone access
to techs, and repairs and replacements by Apple experts
for up to two years. Not only will AppleCare protect iPods,
but also a number of iPod accessories. I
am sure glad Bean doesn't have a p-p-p-problem p-p-puttin'

That's A Gas!
- There's a new fuel in the town of Minneapolis made of
beans, the musical fruit that is already familiar to so
many. Soybean-based diesel will be mixed with petroleum-based
diesel in the city's snowplows during the snowy season this
year. Some people prefer soybean gas to petrol gas because
it is cleaner, smells better and is even slipperier. In
the past it has been pricey, but the cost is coming down
as more and more companies create soybean fuel as a petroleum
substitute. With my own personal supply,
I ought to be set for life! - from Wired

At
The Top - G'
day, all ye turkey heads! We now begin the week with the
holiday of thanks quickly approaching. The world's bad events
really bite the big one, but I'm willing to bet that we
all can find something to be thankful for. Like, I just
found another hole in my water bed, courtesy of the resident
kitties! But, I am thankful that they can't climb underneath
the mattress, which would make patching holes a tad bit
more difficult. So let's all grab some grins and begin this
week while we ponder on thankful thoughts that are unpuncturable
even in the craziest of times!

an enjoyable picture to have (especially with the formation
of the ice). Don't let your desktop freeze with the
lack of desktop clothes. Grab a new coat over yonder

Odds and Ends
Obvious Pie -
The top two Thanksgiving Day pie picks are pumpkin, at
28 percent,
and apple, at 25 percent.
Strange But True -
In Georgia, Gwinnett County has a law that forbids residents
from keeping rabbits as pets. The county livestock law
restricts
rabbits to farm areas and homes with at least
three acres of land. The law was amended in 1993 to allow
Vietnamese potbellied pigs as pets after a woman with
a pet pig pleaded for the exemption.

BAAAAAD TURKEY!
What did the mother
turkey say to her disobedient children?
If your father
could see you now, he'd turn over in his gravy!
BETTER
TURKEY
An industrious
turkey farmer was always experimenting with breeding
to perfect a better turkey. His family was fond
of the leg portion for dinner and there were never
enough legs for everyone. After many frustrating
attempts, the farmer was relating the results of
his efforts to his friends at the general store
get together.
"Well
I finally did it! I bred a turkey that has 6 legs!"
They
all asked the farmer how it tasted.
"I Don't
know" said the farmer. "I never
could catch the darn thing!"
GOOD
LAWYER?
The pope and
a lawyer are on the elevator to heaven. When they
arrive at the gates, there's a mad rush of angels,
saints, and other holy people on their way to greet
them.
When they arrive,
they pick the lawyer up on their shoulders and
carry him off cheering hysterically.
The pope is deeply saddened.
St. Peter sees
this and goes over to him and says, "Don't
feel bad. We get popes in here all the time, it's
not every day we get a lawyer."
