New GOO!
Thanksgiving GUI Edition - Wholey cow, Turkey
Tom! You've avoided the axe in lieu of a luscious plate of GUI goodies! With
all the T-Bird stuffing aside, everyone gets a big plate of both Icons and
Desktops. And since there's such a big plate of fun to tend to, we'll skip
over the Monkie Gobblings and get ready to dine!
New Icons -
For the first course in this banquet of fun, we have 2
New Icon Sets for the feast from the kitchen.
Leslie
Javorek - Slippin' into the "backdoor"
of her icon archives, we get a retro view of older GOO from Leslie
Javorek with a classic collection of pixel portraits titled BackLit
DIrectories! With their antiquated appearance, you'll find this
group of fine GOO slips passed the past and arrives in time to dine!
elpincho
Designs - Though the roll of tumblin'
dice doesn't always toss "Lady Luck" in your direction, the Fine
Dices by the artist of GUI wonders at elpincho
Designs will make
you the winner no matter which side is up! Sporting many Mac logos
and apps, everyone can cash in on the view!
New Desktops -
Next in line is a well "squared" meal of backdrop GUI views as we roll out
4 New Desktops for your eyes and desktop too!
Nature - Heads up! Everybody Duck!
Though Tom Turkey has escaped
the holiday meal, this fine foul snapped by Adam Dickson from Pictures
and Adicons has been captured in the moment of photographic time to make
for an ever tasty treat for your viewing appetite with zero calories. Talk
about them Turkey Day taste buds!
Etc... - As me "big" little Monkie bro returns
to the GUI Gallery, Todd Darland returns with
his unique design in digital canvas creations and a whole lot of Courage!
Created with the use of Adobe Illustrator, Todd's sharp imagination,
and his background in martial arts, this selection is certain to make a
bold debut amongst your favorites!
When you're sitting at the top of your craft, sometimes there's no way
out but up! But what's up when you're on the up and there's No
Exit? It simply means you have another choice piece from the multi-talented
Ed Allen of EA Design Studios! We debut this never seen before scene from
the honorable artist whose abilities know no end!
3-D Rendered - Whether from
a fantasy land lying deep inside your
mind, or simply from the ever clever craftsmanship of ShiftedReality's Juegen
Eilts, you'll find the scenery found in Ethaer a
most breathtaking experience! If you look closely at this pic created
partially with Terragen 0.9.19, you'll see details that make it hard
to believe it's not real...Enjoy!
Thanks Department --
Leslie, elpincho Adam, Todd, Ed, and Juergen...
Your abilities keep the GUI world
spinnin' 'round!
Keep up the fantastic work!

Why did the Pilgrims eat turkey at Thanksgiving?
Because they couldn't get
the moose in the oven!
The Bathtub
It doesn't hurt to take a hard look at yourself from time to time, and this
should help get you started.
During a visit to the mental institution, a visitor asked the Director what
the criterion was which defined whether or not a patient should be institutionalized. "Well," said
the Director, "we
fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the
patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."
"Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would
use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup."
"No." said the Director, "A normal person would pull the
plug. Do you want a room with or without a view?"
Weekly Holiday
Chicken to turkey: "Only Thanksgiving and Christmas??? You're lucky,
with us it's any Sunday."
The Night Of Thanksgiving
Twas the night of Thanksgiving, But I just couldn't sleep.
I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep
The leftovers beckoned --- The dark meat and white,
But I fought the temptation with all of my might.
Tossing and turning with anticipation
The thought of a snack became infatuation.
So I raced to the kitchen, Flung open the door,
And gazed at the fridge full of goodies galore.
I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling so plump and so round,
Till all of a sudden, I rose off the ground !!
I crashed through the ceiling. Floating into the sky...
With a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie,
But I managed to yell as I soared past the trees...
HAPPY EATING TO ALL...PASS THE CRANBERRIES PLEASE !!
Not Hungry
Q: Who is not hungry at Thanksgiving?
A: The turkey because he's already
stuffed!

Apple Shy Guy Shines - Like Apple CEO Steve
Jobs, the inventor of the iMac and the iPod is also very reclusive. Rarely
does he grant interviews and only on the condition that there are no personal
questions. So what does Jonathan Ive reveal? He says his strategy is simply
to make the best product. He is also quick to retain his humility by giving
credit for his inventions to manufacturers and hardware companies. -

iPod Video Best In The West - iPod can now
do everything including video, but the best part is no part of iPod has been
sacrificed in the quality department. Sound is still just as great as always.
As typical of Apple not being willing to cheat, as it were, iPod can not
only do everything but can do it all better than any other product out there.
This makes iPod as close to perfect as a product can get. -

Odds and Ends
Turkey Towns
What is the number of places nationwide named after the holiday's
tasty gobbler? Three. According to Census 2000 shows that Turkey, Texas,
was the most populous, with 494 residents; followed by Turkey Creek, La.
(356); and Turkey, N.C. (262). There also are 11 townships around the country
named "Turkey," three
of them in Kansas.
Stinky Pilgrims!
In the early years in North America, the pilgrim kids did not go to school.
Parents had to teach their own children or get a neighbor to help. On another
note, they only took baths a few times a year!
True American Teamwork -
The Native Americans taught the Pilgrims to hunt for food and to plant their
own food from seeds the Native Americans supplied. They also helped the Pilgrims
build stronger houses.
Not Only US - In the United States, Thanksgiving
Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. But did you know that
seven other nations also celebrate an official Thanksgiving Day? Those nations
are Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Korea, Liberia, and Switzerland.
Real Thanks -
The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been
more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving.
- H.U. Westermayer
Live It -
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation
is not to utter words, but to live by them.
- John Fitzgerald Kennedy
Food And Football - Thanksgiving dinners
take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times
take twelve minutes. This is not coincidence.
- Erma Bombeck

Might As Well Jump!
Can a turkey jump higher than the Empire State Building?
Yes - a building can't jump at all.
Thanksgiving Gathering
Thanksgiving is an emotional time. People travel thousands of miles to be
with people they see only once a year. And then discover once a year is way
too often!
Be Thankful
The minister of the church was giving a Thanksgiving service.
A ragged man in the audience asked, "What is there to be thankful for?"
Surprised, the minister replied, "What is your name, sir?"
"Cause," was
the reply.
"Well Cause, you could be thankful for your healthy body..."
"I'm blind and I have lung cancer"
"...or your family..."
"I don't have a family"
"...or your home..."
"I don't have a home."
"Well, then I guess your a lost Cause!"
Turkey Anthem
Q: What's a turkey's favorite song?
A: "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas"
