ComputersThink Fast!

The first electronic computer appeared about 50 years ago. It was about 80 feet long and weighed 30 tons. By comparison, a desktop computer today can store a million times more information and is 50,000 times faster.

Crock On The Bay

While filming the popular 90's television series Baywatch, its cast and crew went through 306 pounds of body makeup and one 50 gallon drum of sunscreen each season.

JESUS AND MOSES PLAY GOLF

Jesus and Moses are playing golf and they're on the tenth hole. Moses hits the ball and it heads straight for a pond. Just before the ball hits the water, the pond parts and the ball rolls up onto the green.

Jesus winds up and hits one about to the same spot. Jesus' ball hits the water and skips across. All of a sudden, lightning flashes and a ball drops from the sky. A fish swallows it, a bird picks up the fish and drops the ball onto a turtle, that walks over to the hole and drops it in.

Moses turns to Jesus and says, ''I hate it when your Dad plays!''

Macintosh: Super Duper Super Computer - Virginia Tech has requested 1,100 of G5 Boxthe new G5s to serve as a computer cluster to a supercomputer. The school is building what they hope will be one of the world's largest supercomputers, and they have decided to use the G5s as their next major building block. Macs do not currently make up any part of a world supercomputer, so this could become a big break for Apple. It has delayed some of the other G5 shipments in order to fill Virginia Tech's order. - from c|net

PantherPanther On The Prowl - The word is out that Panther is about to attack! The newest Mac OS is not being sold or shipped yet, but the cat is crawling out of its beta cave and pouncing into the official standing of candidate status. Once Panther has been promoted to this status it will be beyond beta and into the final stages of feline fine-tuning. Apple said that this status switch will happen soon, bringing the release date of Panther even closer into focus. - from The Register

Spam Survey - There are a million things computer users would rather do than juggle junk e-mails. A recent survey proves it by showing that more than three out of four people would prefer scrubbing a toilet to shuffling through spam. Three quarters of the people also propose that e-mail perpetrators be punished whether by fines, jail time or reciprocated junk e-mail. However, there are still a slim quarter of those surveyed who believe spammers are simply doing their jobs and should not be shunned. So let the 'slim' scrub the toilets for a while! - from Yahoo

Apple Can't Live With Or Without Jobs - Apple is the subject of an essay seen in Steve JobsSeptember's issue of Wired. The company is given credit for reshaping the face of the computer industry with virtually every new product it produces. Because of this, businesses want a piece of Apple even though it only holds 3 percent of the market. But no one buys it out because of CEO Steve Jobs. Though he is the single creative genius behind the business, he is just as much of an explosive live-wire. The companies with the big bucks can't take his heat. - from Wired

Eye ChartPuppy Eyed Pupils - "Srinuan," a stray dog in Thailand, has been looking at people with those big, puppy eyes for six months. But now, thanks to a local vet, he will actually be able to see those people. Perceiving that the puppy's eyes had a correctable problem, the pet-friendly vet proceeded to provide him with prescription goggles. The mutt no longer meanders around bumping his head, but dons his doggie glasses, which were funded by a foundation for stray friends. Umm...Does that make Srinuan a 'seeing eye dog'? - from ABC
