New GOO!
New Icons and Desktops -
Wholly cow! It's been some time since we've seen a gathering of the Icons
and Desktops to provide for one outstanding GOO-fest altogether in one place!
But that's just what we have as there's 2 New Icon
Sets and 3
New Desktops for your viewing enjoyment. So let's kick off this
pixel party and have a blast!
Icons -
Though his mysterious absence of web presence raises a question, there's
no doubt of James Cukr's excellence in icon
creation as you can most certainly see in the recent set titled Mac
mini HD! Sporting Apple's cool computer, James
includes variations of the mini as well as a couple other delights!
Taking a short break from her all to cool MacKool collection, we head
into another great series of pixel pleasures by Leslie Javorek with
Opal StarterKit! Offering a replacement
set seen for its rich iridescence, Leslie has come up with a most unique
blend of Mac class combined with her talents and a smooth new view!
Desktops -
Looks as though me younger Monkie munchkin (okay, so he's not small at
all) Todd Darland has had quite the creative streak as of late! With his
meekness in digital design, Todd finds a full spectrum of color and a whole
lotta muscle found in his latest contribution titled Strength. You're sure
to get a big splash of satisfaction once you lay your eyes on this new
number!
Back for the attack with an amazing new creation, long time desktop contributor
Ed Allen returns with another fine design from Ed
Allen Design Studios titled Black
Steel! This remarkable piece of "heavy metal" provides all kinds of
twists and turns and continues to showcase his creative strengths and demonstrate
his pixel prowess! We're sure you'll agree that this pic "steels" your
desktop!
Once again lending tribute to the views of the vast desert of Africa, Bob
Wiley steps in with an abstract, impressionistic view of the
continent's masses of sand with Impression
of the Sahara. This trip to the dunes is taken from a photo he got,
and it's his representation of what the dunes really looked like. When
it comes down to it, we'd say Bob did quite the marvelous job...Enjoy!
Thanks Department --
James, Leslie, Todd, Ed, and Bob...
Thanks a million for your continuing creative
abilities!
You're the best!
THANK YOU!

A. They really raised Cain.
A Namby-Pamby Place
The manager of a large office noticed a new man one day and told him to
come into his office. "What is your name?" was the first thing
the manager asked the new guy.
"John," the new guy replied.
The manager scowled, "Look, I don't know what kind of a namby-pamby
place you worked at before, but I don't call anyone by their first name.
It breeds familiarity and that leads to a breakdown in authority. I refer
to my employees by their last name only - Smith, Jones, Baker - that's all.
I am to be referred to only as Mr. Robertson. Now that we got that straight,
what is your last name?"
The new guy sighed and said, "Darling. My name is John Darling."
"Okay, John, the next thing I want to tell you is..."
Addicted
George answered the phone and on the other end of the line was Dr. Thomas
calling to remind George's wife Tyna about her upcoming appointment. George
said that he would remind Tyna about her appointment but that she did not
know where his office was located.
Dr. Thomas instructed that his office was located at the hospital in the
west wing - room W. George quickly jotted down the information and thanked
the doctor. He then hung up the phone and went to the bedroom to take a nap.
Later on, Tyna returned home and was perplexed when she saw the message next
to the phone that read:
"WWW @ Hospital Doc Tom"

At
The Top - Tomato, tamata...Today or tomorrah! No matter how you add
'em up, only one thing has relevance for your Almost
Friday Icon and Desktop Edition. Though the newest Icons and Desktops are
currently on line, time constraints have limited us from having a full blown
GUI Edition. So rather than gipping our pixel artists of their full fledged
features, we will simply postpone the eye candy gala until Saturday. Until
then, you can get a view of the GUI preview by slipping over to the Gallery and get a glance of what's to come. Until tomorrow, have a blast!

Tomorrow: New GOO? -
Welcome back, folks! The last couple of days of fixing things up went somewhat
smoothly, only containing a couple of snags due to exhaustion and a very
busy schedule. That said, we are tentatively planning a "GUI Friday" if
time allows. If not, we will still be here tomorrow in some form or another...Howz
about that for confused! Anyhoo, there's plenty of News now to tend to, so
let's get right down to it!
On The Net

the overall appearance of your Mac using themes that bring a makeover to
the look of your windows, menus, apps, buttons... absolutely

new module "guiTweak" that provides the ability to tweak a theme
that you like into a theme that you love. It also lets you move variants
between guiKit files, rename variants, remove variants, or change the preview
image or description for variants. And there's so much more! So much so that
you best hurry over to Unsanity, check
out the latest details, and get your copy of ShapeShifter!
Gideon Softworks Updates - David J. Clark

internal changes to make xBack more efficient.
SSH Helper is the only OpenSSH configuration utility for Mac OS X that allows
you to easily control who's allowed to access your account, generate new
OpenSSH keys, view/export your Public Keys, and setup and control the OpenSSH
Server. In version 1.2.2, UsePAM is now set to NO when Password Authentication
turned off and the app size is smaller. Now that you have the skinny on xBack and SSH Helper, swing over to Gideon
Softworks and check 'em out!

Apple-Intel Inspires Innovation - Apples
partnership with Intel has made some Mac fans leery, worrying that Apple
may be giving in to the common PC. It has the power to do just the opposite,
however. Since Apple has never sacrificed style and innovation, it likely
never will. This means that, rather than Macs succumbing to the ordinary,
Apple will influence all things PC to take a step up in the innovative direction. -

School Of Apples - What better way to go
back to school than with an education friendly Apple computer? That is the
goal of Chatham County, N.C. for all of its high school students. One thousand
brand new iBooks are being handed out this year, and more will be handed
out each year until every student in the district has a laptop in their laps.
The district hopes this will get everyone on board for technology. -

Windows WannaBe's - Pirating has not been
a bad practice when it comes to pirating the Windows operating system. Some
versions of the OS finding their way through file sharing seem to run more
smoothly than the real thing. Of multiple viable versions one can get anything
from a stripped down copy of Windows to a beefed up one. And copies of Windows
even run rampant with security software. - from Wired

At The Top: Short Break -
Good day, mates! Hope your weekend was filled with fun and fruitfulness
that filled your funny bone's desire. As for the "two crew" here at the
Monkie Boat, we'll be taking a short break as to tend to the remaining
mess due to the flooding situation we mentioned a couple weeks back. The
carpet cleaning folks were also flooded with a number of jobs due to the
excessive rain, so they couldn't get to the Monkie Hut till now. And with
the task at hand, many things must be moved about to get the job done appropriately.
So until we return on Thursday, enjoy the current categories of News and
crazies and we will see you on Thursday!

Odds and Ends
Heavy Fashion - The multi-layered space suite
worn by astronauts on the Apollo moon landings weighed 180 pounds on Earth
and 30 pounds on the moon with the reduced lunar gravity.
Cat Scratch Fever - Cats are the only domestic
animals that walk directly on their claws, not on their paws. This method
of walking is called "digitigrade." When cats scratch furniture,
it isn't an act of malice. They are actually tearing off the ragged edges
of the sheaths of their talons to expose the new sharp ones beneath.
Not So Wild And Crazy Guy - Steve Martin
studied philosophy at California State University at Long Beach, and for
a time, considered becoming a philosophy professor instead of an actor-comedian-writer.
Edison's Medicine - The three great essentials
to achieving anything worthwhile are; first, hard work, second, stick-to-it-iveness,
and third, common sense.
- Thomas Edison
Paperback Stopper - The paperback is very
interesting, but I find it will never replace the hardcover book - it makes
a very poor doorstop.
- Alfred Hitchcock
Meaning Of Music - The whole problem can
be stated quite simply by asking, "Is there a meaning to music?" My
answer would be, "Yes." And "Can you state in so many words
what the meaning is?" My answer to that would be, "No."

Zackly, What is a Census?
A census taker walked up to an old, run down cabin on the back side of a
mountain and knocked at the door. After a long pause, an elderly man opened
a screen door and asked, "What can I do for you, young feller?"
The census taker replied, "Sir, I work for the United States government
and I'm here to take the census."
"Well, I don't rightly know what yo'ens is a talking about. Zackly,
what is a census?"
"Sir, every ten years the United States government needs to know exactly
how many people live in our wonderful country, and I've come to you to help
them find out."
The old farmer removed his straw hat, scratched his head, wiped his face

The Thousand Dollar Sermon
One beautiful Sunday morning, a Minister announced to his congregation:
"My good people, I have here in my hands three sermons...a $1,000
sermon that lasts five minutes, a $500 sermon that lasts fifteen minutes,
