Mandolux -
It's no secret that Mando is one of the best and most prolific
desktop crafters around. And this week's additions at Mandolux are
a great example. Let's take a look:
Mandolux has
issued three new desktops this week: one Technosis/Anthraxis
(Abstract), one Sam+Fen (Landscape), and one ViDRIO (Ice/Nature).
The latest
Technosis/Anthraxis desktop titled Garage was
inspired by Shutterbug and
her latest
and
quite wonderful
picture set of underground scenes. The photo was taken
over two years ago in a parking lot. If you wanna shed
a little more light on your desktop, head over to Mandolux and
grab this illuminating new piece!

PULLING TEETH
A
man and his wife entered a dentist's office. The wife said, "I
want a tooth pulled. I don't want gas or Novocain because
I'm in a terrible hurry. Just pull
the tooth as quickly as possible."
"You're a brave woman," said the
dentist. "Now,
show me which tooth it is."
The wife turns to her
husband and says: "Open your
mouth and show the dentist which tooth it is, dear."
LOOK OUT BELOW!
What's green, fuzzy, has 4 legs, and, if
it falls out of a tree, can kill you?
A pool table.
I'M A SPOON!
Patient: Doctor, Doctor, I feel like
a spoon.
Doctor: Sit still and don't stir.
IT'S SOHOTTA IN THE SAHARA
There were these
3 criminals who had just robbed a bank in Egypt. They were
caught, convicted, and sentenced
to exile in the Sahara Desert and they could each take
only one thing. When they met in the desert they each
were telling what they had brought.
"I brought a loaf of bread, so when
I get hungry, I'll have something to eat," said the
first criminal.
"I brought a water skin, so that when I get thirsty, I'll
have something to drink," said the second.
"I brought a car
door, so that when it gets hot I can roll down the window."

Apple Affair - Though some citizens are forced
to use PCs in the workplace, they can still come up with
many reasons to fall in love with Mac. One is simply the
fact that Apple has time to invent all things new and different
because it does not have to focus on fixing itself all
the time. Without the complications of compatibility issues,
Apple's got its hands free to bring the best ideas into
reality. Add to that security and the amazing Mac operating
system, and PC users can easily become smitten. - from
Newsobserver.com
Musical Movement - A new technology is being
tried in which musicians can manipulate the sound of their
songs through infra-red light instead of a billion buttons.
Turning knobs and dials takes up a lot of time, but if
an infra-red light could capture arm movement, everything
could change. Computers could manipulate sound by anticipating
the movement of musicians' arms and playing with millions
of knobs on the mixing board could become a thing of the
past. - from BBC

At
The Top -
Phew! That was a close one...There was flash flooding
in my residential area and I had to leave work to make
sure
the critters were okay (and my Mac too)! So, with all the
chaos, this update was posted just a tad bit later than
usual. Fortunately, all
was high and dry as my little Monkie hut was unaffected.
With all of that out of the way, it's
time to get to the good stuff: Your Wednesday
Desktop Edition and
a chance to win big in our Monkie
Boogie Birthday Bash -
your chance to win a New
iPod or one of over $1,000 worth
of great prizes! Once you've checked out all of
the latest GUI goodies, get yourself over to The
Scoop and get yourself
signed up. Now, on with the show!
New GOO!
New
Desktops - What a wonder day Wednesday will be
with great new GOO for this week's Desktop Edition! There's
5 New Desktops to choose from, including
work from our latest contributor Stephen Anderson. Let's
get down to business!
Desktops - Beginning this
week's string of true blue desktop works is FR4NK with
the genetically designed -DNA- .
FR4NK ever cleverly weaves his science and skill in digital
design into this awesome creation. It's certainly inherent
that this piece is destined for a place among your desktop
favorites.
When one takes
the time to make a difference, you often find yourself
standing out in the crowd. So is the same with the
latest selection from Victor Emert titled LoneStar.
Once you grab a glimpse of this great number, you'll
not only find your view of a star, but a
single shining star that stands out from the rest!
Etc. - In with his first
pic of desktop excellence is Stephen
Anderson, our latest creative contributor. Young
Snow Leopard puts
the growl and prowl of pixel purrfection on your desktop
in a most magnificent way. With a fine feline design
like this in your GUI view, your pixel paws will be most
content with its content!
3-D Rendered - Nope! You're
not seeing things. Another spectacular selection titled Mirage
1 created by Bob
Wiley makes its way into the Monkie Galleries. This
fine entry is a collage of Reflect
Around and
a new render, plus some editing...Is it there, or is it
not? That would be the question at hand!
Coming
or going? Hell or high waters? Sometimes just trying
to figure it out
can leave you feeling like you're just About
To Break; the title of MacMonkies' latest
desktop release by Monkie Master Bradford Wiles. Though
merely a rework of a previous Wiles creation, the point
of perspective and Photoshop filtering make this a favorite
of the Monkie collections. Enjoy!
Thanks

THE FIRING SQUAD
A man was scheduled to
go before a firing squad for his crimes. The evening
before his execution, he
was asked what he wanted for his last meal. He
refused the meal completely.
The next morning
the man was brought before the firing squad. When
asked for
his last request,
the man said
he had none. The General in charge of his execution
asked him, "Sir, you refused your last meal
and your last request. Isn't there anything you
want
before
you die?"
The man thought
for a moment, then said, "Music has always been
an important part of my life. If
I could
do but one thing before I die, would you allow
me to sing my favorite song from beginning to
end, without
interruption?"
The General thought this was a
reasonable request, and ordered his men to lower
their weapons and
to not interrupt for the duration of the song.
"Ten
million bottles of beer on the wall..."
CONSOLING
SUSIE
Mom and Dad were trying to console Susie,
whose dog had recently died.
"You know," Mom
said, "it's not your fault
that the dog died. He's probably up in heaven right
now, having a grand old time with God."
Susie,
still crying, said, "What would God want
with a dead dog?"

TV T-shirts -
A techie thirty-year-old is taking on a new way of advertising by placing
TV's in T-shirts. The way it works is TV wearers don digital
T-shirts, equipped
with flat screens and speakers, and simply walk around
gaining attention while the ads play. For example: A TV
wearer was walking through a Theater lobby in Boston while
an ad for the new Will Smith movie "I, Robot" played
on the TV screen on her T-shirt. The inventor hopes his
walking advertisement idea will catch on at stores and
concerts too. - from The Christian Science

KFC: OUR DAILY CHICKEN
A
salesman from KFC walked up to the Pope and offers
him a million dollars
if he would change "The Lord's
Prayer" from "give us this day our daily
bread" to "give us this day our daily chicken." The
Pope refused his offer.
Two weeks later, the
man offered the pope 10 million dollars to change it
from "give
us this day our daily bread" to "give
us this day our daily chicken" and again the Pope
refused the man's generous offer.
Another week later,
the man offered the Pope 20 million dollars and finally
the
Pope accepted.
The following day,
the Pope said to all his officials, "I have some
good news and some bad news. The good news is, that
we have just received a

we lost the Wonder
Bread account!"
