Things Learned From TV
All crimes are solved in 1 hour.
The Good guy always wins.
When you’re trapped, you always find a way out.
A trip from Los Angeles to China takes 5 seconds.
All women still have makeup on when they wake up in the morning.
When you’re a hero, you will never get burnt in a fire.
Child's Savings Account
Lori's mother decided that the 8-year-old should get something practical
for her birthday.
"Suppose we open a savings account for you," her
mother said. Lori was delighted.
"It's your account," her mother
said as they walked into the bank, "so
you fill out the application."
Lori was doing fine until she encountered
the question: "Name of your
former bank." With just a slight hesitation, she wrote her answer. "Piggy."
A Matter Of Gravity
I remember my first skydiving instructor. During class he would take time
to answer any of our stupid first-timer questions. One guy asked, "If
our chute doesn't open...and the reserve doesn't open, how long do we have
'til we hit the ground?"
Our jump master looked at him and in perfect deadpan answered, "The
rest of your life."
Aging Gracefully
Mickey's wife bought a new line of expensive cosmetics guaranteed to make
her look years younger. After a lengthy sitting before the mirror applying
the "miracle" products, she asked, "Darling, honestly, what
age would you say I am?"
Looking over her carefully, Mickey replied, "Judging from your skin,
twenty; your hair, eighteen; and your figure, twenty five."
"Oh, you flatterer!" she gushed.
"Hey, wait a minute!" Mickey interrupted. "I haven't added
them up yet."

iPod Shuffle Paves The Way - Once again Apple
is one step ahead of the competition, leaving all other digital sales companies
in its shadow. The step Apple has taken is announcing the price reduction
of its iPod shuffle. Following this announcement by Apple last week, the
price of more and more digital music players is expected to follow in Apples
footsteps, making this a great time of the year to purchase music players. -
from PCWorld
Tiger and iPod Boost Bucks - Some finance
officials are forecasting more fortune for the future of Apple. Rather than
coming from sales of the iPod, however, the situation seems to be that tons
of Tiger sales are taking their toll on Apple's success. Sales of the new
operating system are helping to tip the scales in Apple's favor and offset
the mild sales of the Apple Mac Mini computer. -

Cell Phone Ceremony -
The show must go on, even if it is a wedding, and technology is helping with
just that. It turns out that a groom in India was unable to be present at
his wedding due to a dangerous storm. Cell phones saved the day, however,
allowing the couple to continue the ceremony by saying their vows over the
cell phone. Each phone was set to speaker so all the witnesses could hear
as well. - from Yahoo

Successful Farmer
A farmer had a very successful rabbit breeding operation for many years.
Suddenly, he liquidated the whole farm and replaced the rabbit cages with
nesting towers for bats. His neighbors asked if he wasn't out of his mind.
"Well, that's the kind of farmer I am," he said. "Hare
today and guano tomorrow."
Anything In The Whole World
A cat died and went to heaven. St. Peter greeted him at the gate and told
the cat that he could have anything in the whole world that he wanted. The
cat told him that all he wanted was a big, white, fluffy pillow. The pillow
appeared next to the cat and he was on his way with his new pillow.
About three days later, four mice died and came to heaven. Once again, St.
Peter greeted the mice and told them that they could have anything in the
whole world. The mice thought about it and then told him that they were sick
of being chased by cats that were so much faster than them, so they each
wanted a pair of roller skates. The skates appeared next to them and they
put them on. They skated away looking happy.
Three or four days later St. Peter came across the cat laying on his big,
white, fluffy pillow. St. Peter asked how he was enjoying animal heaven and
the cat said that it was great and he really enjoyed his new pillow. The
cat added, "By the way. Thanks for the meals on wheels you've
been sending me!"
Abatement
Tower: Alpha Charlie, climb immediately to 4000 feet for noise abatement.
Pilot: How can I possibly be creating excess noise at 3000 feet?
Tower: At 4000 feet, you will miss the 707 now coming at you at 3000
feet, and that is bound to avoid one heck of a racket.
Stuck
During training exercises, the lieutenant driving down a muddy back road
encountered another car stuck in the mud with a red faced colonel at the
wheel. "Your jeep stuck, sir?" asked the lieutenant as he pulled
alongside.
"Nope," replied the colonel, coming over and handing him the keys, "Yours is."

Apple's Got Game - Gaming has not been a
big priority for Mac users, mostly because they are caught up in the iPod
and iTunes. But Apple's partnership with Intel could change all that. One
of the positives Intel is likely to bring Apples way is much more potential
for video games. Since most PCers make a major priority of gaming, the Mac
potential for gaming could conquer more customers moving them up to Apples
level. - from The
Wichita Eagle
Apple In The Zone - Apple has recently claimed
that ninety percent of people in the United States are within forty five
minutes of drive time from an Apple Retail Store. Some of the more spacious
areas of this great land are, however, so gigantic that there are gaps guarding
them from having an Apple store nearby. Apple hopes to fill in those gaps
so that every person in the country will be in an Apple zone. -
from ifoAppleStore
Disc Jockey To Digital Jockey - Computers
are changing the traditional meaning behind the DJ. Being a DJ used to mean
being boxed up in a stall and spinning records over the airwaves. Technology
is redefining this in two ways. First of all, through digital downloads a
DJ can create his or her own playlist. Second, DJs are now able to be portable
through laptops. This has changed the meaning of DJ from Disc Jockey to the
Digital Jockey. - from BBC

Odds and Ends
U.S. Flag - The flag is made mostly
of wool, with cotton stars. It was made by Mary Pickersgill and her
13 yr. old daughter, in Baltimore in 1813. Lt. Col. George Armistead ordered
it to fly over Fort McHenry in Baltimore during the War of 1812.
Independence Date - Now many have said
that the Congress actually approved it on July 2, or August 2, the date they
really did sign the document. So why the 4th? That was the day the final
draft of the Declaration was finished for the August 2nd signing. Confused?
They approved the entire idea on July 2, with a rough outline. But on July
4 they actually had their finished draft after a lot of discussion and
ratified it. And it takes a while for everyone to get it signed (remember
we didn't have fax machines then), so that was done on August 2.
Feet In Motion - A two-hour motion picture
uses 10,800 feet of film — not including the previews and commercials.
Say What? How? -
If you really want to capture someone's attention, there's no need to utter
a word. Simply let your actions do the talking; Loud and clear your message
will be heard!

The Right Job Part
II
Put around 100 bricks in some particular order in a closed room with an
open window.
Then send 2-3 candidates into the room and close it from outside. Leave
them alone and come back after 6 hours, and then analyze the situation:
If they have thrown the bricks out of the window - PUT THEM IN THE MATERIALS
DEPT.
If they are clinging onto the bricks - PUT THEM IN TREASURY.
If they say they have tried different combinations, yet not a brick has
moved - PUT THEM IN SALES.
If they have already left for the day - PUT THEM IN MARKETING.
If they are staring out of the window - PUT THEM IN THE EXPORT.
AND last but not least...
If they are talking to each other and not a brick has moved - PUT THEM
IN TOP MANAGEMENT!!!
D.C.
"What's the nation's capital?" a teacher asked her group of second-graders.
"Washington, D.C.," one of them answered.
"Very good!" she said. "But do you know what the D.C. stands
for?"
"Yes," the pupil said proudly. "Dot com!"
Art
A tiny but dignified old lady was among a group looking at an art exhibition
in a newly opened gallery. Suddenly one contemporary painting caught her
eye. "What on earth," she inquired of the artist standing nearby, "is
that?" He smiled condescendingly.
"That, my dear lady, is supposed
to be a mother and her child."
"Well, then," snapped the little old lady, "why isn't it?"
