Pic of the
Day - Heh,
heh! If you're like most, you never want to find
yourself left
behind. This is especially the case when it comes to
those personal duties we deal with that lead us
to the "little boys room" or "little
girls room." When traveling abroad, one usually
finds universal signs to point us in the right direction
of where we need to go. And if you're fortunate, you
may even find these directions spelled out for you.
Fortunate for a smile's sake, this week's Pic
of the Day points out the humorous side
of the translation woes. Grab a peek of
this hilarious shot and then feel free to get some
"relief"!

Apple's New
G5 - Yesterday, Apple announced the
new PowerMac G5. According to Apple:
Mac OS X really shines when it divvies up
tasks between two CPUs, and now the Power Mac G5 offers
dual processor models across the board at 1.8GHz, 2GHz
and 2.5GHz, for a substantial speed boost at the top of
the line. The 2.5GHz model packs so much power into tight
quarters that Apple designed a liquid cooling system, resulting
in a cool tower that runs Photoshop nearly two times faster
than a Pentium 4-based system. In fact, for most creative
endeavors, the Power Mac G5 simply has no competition in
its class.
Though many in the
industry thought a 3 GHz model would be announced, Apple's
Director of Power Mac
Product Marketing Tom Boger said that the model would not
be released anytime soon because they "just didn't
realize the challenges moving to 90 nanometer would present.
It
turned out to be a much bigger challenge than anyone expected."

Apple Express -
Apple has introduced the Airport Express, a wireless airport base that
plugs into a wall outlet. Usable with Mac and Windows machines,
jumping
aboard the Airport Express allows people to go wireless
throughout their homes or offices. The wireless wonder
not only provides internet access, but also gives a whole
new meaning to plug and play through AirTunes. The feature
of Airtunes uses the Airport Express to play music off
iTunes through home stereo speakers. -

Nature -
Ushering in this week's collection of eye candy is Uthal
Plantener.
For Uthal's first submission (and hopefully not the last),
is a most beautiful sunscape titled The
Last Island Ferry. This stunning
view is a snapshot taken at the end of the last
day of Autumn in Brisbane, Australia, with a
car ferry connecting the Bay Islands to the mainland.
Everything's
coming up roses in Bob
Wiley's neck of the woods with his
latest pic of Nature titled Classic
Rose! Bob found something about the
roses made him think of old, classic movies in black
and white. Though not completely original,
it's sort of a different take on things. And there
is
just something
about the brick wall that adds to its eye pleasing
appeal!

TO THE TEE
A
guy stood over his tee shot for what seemed an eternity,
looking up, looking down, measuring the distance, figuring
the wind direction and speed. He was driving his partner
nuts. Finally his exasperated partner says, "What's
taking so long? Hit the blasted ball!"
The guy answers, "My
wife is up there watching me from the clubhouse. I want
to make this a perfect shot."
"Forget it, man," said his partner, "you
don't stand a snowball's chance in Hades of hitting her
from here!"
THE MUSHROOM
Why is the mushroom always invited
to parties?
'Cause he's a fungi!
MISGUIDED
A group of hikers were being led
through the wilderness by a guide. On the third day,
the hikers noticed that
they had been traveling in circles.
"We're lost!" One
of the hikers complained.
"And you said
you were the best guide in the United States."
"I am," the guide
answered, "but I think we may have wandered into Canada."
WHY!!!!
Why did the chicken cross the road?
Dr. Seuss answers this
question: "Did
the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad?
Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why? It's not been
told."

More Powerful
PowerMac - Recently spotted were suspicious
activities stirring around Apple that suggest a new
PowerMac G5 may be on the horizon. When Apple introduced
it's PowerMac G5 last June, Steve Jobs made the comment
that it's speed would be up to 3GHZ within a year,
so the time is ripe. Curious occurrences include the
fact that Apple accidentally included photos of the
new machine in a service manuel. Wait time for current
G5s has also increased, indicating a change is coming. -

Taking iTunes To Europe - Apple has announced
a big event in Europe June 15th. Since the special event
sports the slogan 'The biggest story in music is about
to get bigger,' inquiring minds tend to think that iTunes
is finally going to be unleashed in Europe. Napster is
already in the UK, but with the launch of the long-awaited
digital leader, which is compatible with OSX and Windows,
iTunes looks to spread over the world like wildfire. The
invitation to the event also includes the iPod dancers.

Duck-a-lect - Dozens of dialects are spoken
by people across the globe, but ducks talk in dialects
too. A study in London reveals that rural ducks sport a
different dialect than city ducks do. While rural ducks
find it just ducky to relax their vocal chords and speak
softly, city ducks are much more quacked out, laughing
loudly and talking with tones at the top of their lungs.
The city ducks' dialect definitely drowns out that of the
rural ducks, because there are bunches of noises to adjust
to in the city. - Excite
At
The Top -
First things first...Saturday saw the passing of
America's 40th President: Ronald
Wilson Reagan.
Though many things can be said about Reagan - both
positive and negative - one thing that he was known
for was serving his country with a smile. That is
one
tough feat to follow, especially in this day and
age. Though it is always a sad event when one departs
from this Earth, we certainly hope that the likes
of The Gipper's Jelly Bean smile will continue to
influence a world in need of a more positive environment.
With that said,
let's find a grin or three as we begin another week of
work and get to the good stuff. Shall we?!

Corn Ball -
In baseball, a "can of corn" refers to a fly
ball that is easy to catch. This phrase reportedly came
from an old practice of grocery store clerks, who used
to knock unreachable cans off high shelves with a stick
and catch them in their work aprons.
A Bunch of Yesterdays - The most recorded
song of all time - with more than 2,000 versions - is 'Yesterday'.
Included
on
the 'Help!' soundtrack, it was number one for four weeks

that
it
bears a very
close resemblance to the first.

MIRROR, MIRROR
In a fancy Paris restaurant,
there is a magical wish-granting mirror. But it only grants
wishes if you tell the truth
-- if you lie, you disappear.
One day, a blonde, a brunette,

out the mirror. The brunette goes first.
"I
think I'm the smartest woman on earth."
"POOF!" She
disappears.
The redhead
goes up to try. "I think I'm the prettiest woman
on earth."
"POOF!" She
disappears.
The blonde
goes up. "I think..."
