This and
That -We
mentioned recently that we were setting up a Translation page
for our readers in different countries. Though the
page is still a work in process, it is now currently
online and ready for preview. If you have any input
or suggestions, feel free to slip over to our Comments area
and share your thoughts.
On another note:
The Audio Download section
of our Audio/MIDI department has
been reorganized for better navigation. Pages in this
Department
needing a long over due face lift are on their way. You
may even spot a new category in this section. No need
to let all of the monkies out of the bag, but there's
plenty here to fill you ears. Keep your bananas peeled!

Odds and Ends
Peace and Prosperity -
If we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful
instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known
that we are at all times ready for war.
- George
Washington
Right or Wrong -
If I were to try to read, much less answer, all the attacks
made on me, this shop
might
as
well be closed for any other business. I do the very best
I know how - the very best I can; and I mean to keep doing
so until the end. If the end brings me out all right, what's
said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings
me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right would make
no difference.
-
Abraham Lincoln
If You Want It - When we say "War is
over if you want it," we mean that if everyone demanded
peace instead of another TV set, we'd have peace.
Pic of the
Day -For
those of you who have had a taste of life in Wyoming,
you may know that it is one of the few places in the
United States that the buffalo roam, and the deer and
the antelope still play. But we're pretty high up the
ladder in technology as well. Have your doubts? Take
a look at the Pic of the Day, and
you will see that even our landscape has gone high
tech. Grab a look!

iPod Sets Sony
Back - iPod has been a big setback
for Sony with it's success. Sony
sales slowed down while it sat around trying to come
up with something to compete with iPod. The effects
of iPod's success has rippled throughout the industry
like a resounding gong leaving Sony beside itself.
Steve Jobs simply beat it to the punch before it even
knew what the punch was. iPod's success will demand
the production of smaller digital gadgets with smaller
hard drives. - from PC

Rent-A-Monkey -
Things are getting zany at the Moscow zoo. Zookeepers have
decided to rent out the animals to try to ease their financial
burdens. For a day the public can pay for a gorilla to
make a guest appearance, a snake to slither through the
door or a lion to lounge around the house. Keepers are
sent along with the critters so there is no cause for alarm.
The zoo hopes to raise visitation by raising interest in
the animals, especially among children. Now

GOO!
New Desktops -
Nature is calling. And so are the other classic categories
here at the GUI Galleries as we roll out 5 New
Desktops for this week's Wednesday Desktop Edition!
Is your tail thumpin'? Wag in the wind and let's begin!
Fun - Puttin' the foot
on fun is the latest "smirker" by James
Naylor appropriately
titled Big
Foot. James manages to remind us
just how small we all are with what appears to be a Blazer
residing in the foreground. With this nice touch of depth
and perspective in view, perhaps it's now time to run
like mad and get outta the way!
Desktops - Returning with
a lean, green, desktop "machine" is Victor
Emert and
his latest digital desktop work of art No
Limits. A man seemingly of few words, Victor
let's the pixels do the talking with this bright new
number. Besides, they say a picture is worth a thousand
words. And there's no limit in vocabulary when it comes
to Victor's artistic style!
Departing from his signature style in reddish
collaboration of color, FR4NK adds
a beautiful hue of blue with his latest in the Gallery
titled, or perhaps un-titled:Untitled
#9. This Aqua-ized beauty will add to your
view a deep creative calm to your desktop sea of GUI
love. I guess that's why they call it the blues!
Nature - A natural place
to position your affection for GUI goodies is, of course,
the Nature Department. And what better way is there to
display it than with Natural
Love by Milosz Wlazlo of Miloszwl.com!
You won't soon be looking for greener grass on the "other
side." This clever desktop selection marries the
best of Mother Nature and GUI delight!
3-D Rendered - We know
you've been practically pining away for a good
dose of 3-D from Bob
Wiley, one of the web's best in 3 dimensional
design. So how about a taste of one of his latest selections
with Pine!
The reality of this great pic comes alive in the realism
of the tree and the "promise" shining bright
in the background. Enjoy!
Thanks

A WHAT??
A tiny but dignified
old lady was among a group looking at an art exhibition
in a newly opened gallery. Suddenly one contemporary
painting caught her eye. "What on earth," she
inquired of the artist standing nearby, "is that?"
He smiled condescendingly. "That,
my dear lady, is supposed to be a mother and her child."
"Well, then," snapped
the little old lady, "Why isn't it?"

FLIES IN THE
BEER
An Irishman, Englishman
and Scotsman go into a pub and each order a pint of Guinness.
Just as the bartender hands them over, three flies buzz
down and one lands in each of the pints.
The Englishman looks
disgusted, pushes his pint away and demands another pint.
The Scotsman picks
out the fly, shrugs, and takes a long swallow.
The Irishman reaches
in to the glass, pinches the fly between his fingers
and shakes him while yelling, "Spit it out, ya bugger!
Spit it out!"

iPod
Sprouts Out -
As of last week, Apple divided the inside iPod industry
into a separate branch of the business. Some speculate
that this move will increase Apple's overall profit.
Apple remarked that the move would allow for more
iPod resources. The music biz around the world is
currently worth $35 billion, so for Apple to focus
on the physical availability of it's iPod could dictate
the dominance of the digital device over the globe. -

Digital Dino -
The Los Angeles Zoo is delving into technology with digital
dinosaurs. Their
Dinosaur Den will feature robotic animals run by computer
chips and compressed air. Zoo officials hope to give
visitors an idea of how the dinosaurs might have looked
and lived. They also hope to make people more aware of
animal extinction. The den will house eighteen dinosaurs
swooping their heads and swishing their tails. -

Dash It! -
A car's instrument panel is called a dashboard. The term
dates back to horse-and-buggy days when dashing horses
kicked up mud, splashing the passengers riding behind
them. The dashboard was devised to protect them.
Sleep Tight -
Early mattresses were filled with straw and held up with
a rope stretched across the bed frame. If the rope was
tight, sleep was comfortable. Hence the phrase, "sleep
tight."

I SEE YOU!
A few days before
his proctology exam, a one eyed man accidentally swallowed
his glass eye. He was worried for a while, but there
were no ill effects, so he forgot about it.
Once he was in the
doctor's office, the man followed instructions, undressed,
and bent over. The first thing the proctologist saw when
he looked toward the man's behind was that eye staring
right back at him.
"You know," said
the doctor, "you really have to learn to trust me."
