Pic
of the Day -
Okay, okay! So I have done my share of poking fun
at the woman's side of the world. But really, women
are superior to men in many ways, including the "mothering"
thing. And for this week's Pic
of the Day, this little
snapshot is perhaps proof as to why men shouldn't
baby sit. Take a little click and
you'll see what we mean!

Odds and Ends
It's
the Law! - In Breton, Alabama, there is
a law on the town's books against riding down the street
in a motorboat. What about roller skating
in a buffalo herd?!!
Body of Water -
Water makes up 60 percent of our body weight. Of the water,
8 percent is in the blood, 25 percent in the spaces between
cells, and 67 percent inside the cells.
Technology -
I think that technologies are morally neutral until we
apply them. It's only when we use them for good or
for
evil that they become good or evil
At The Top - What
would a Monkie have on a Friday for your eyes only? Yup.
You guessed it! Your Friday Icon Edition!
There's a mouthwatering trio of GUI goodies by some most
amazing iconists, now
available for consumption. Add to the dining a well rounded
taste of text with Community News and Bananas, and you've
got just the right menu for your Friday dining. Let's
dodge the Monkie and call the waiter...Yo! Waituh!

grnluvbug
- Got a doozie of a hard drive you'd like to dress up
a little? How about making that doozie a Daisy
with the talents of Joy Tallant! This springtime "single
shot" from grnluvbug
ought to do just the trick. Joy takes her love for nature
and transforms it into a single icon set that is certain
to add class to all classifications in your icon collections!
Steve Smith - With a different
blend of desktop dough, Steve Smith pays tribute to the
late, great Johnny Cash with Cash Tribute.
This great set of CD and DVD jewel cases covers a wide
span of Cash's musical history with a touch of Steve's
excellent taste in icon craftsmanship. Don't be singin'
the Folsom Prison Blues. Grab this Cash act of the Man
in Black!
WatiWorks
- You're bound to go bananas with the latest set by Wati
Larke to enter the Monkie GUI Galleries! Fun
Fruits from WatiWorks
is one of the tastiest icon sets to date to come from

of you sharing your work with us and the Web!
The DeskStop
- Saving the world one desktop at a time is The
Factory's resident comic
book nut Talos
Tsui. He has created an all-new desktop picture to accompany
Gedeon's recent icon release of Justice League,
and it is now available at none other than The
DeskStop! So if you really wanna make a difference
to your desktop world and the rest of the web as well, scoot
your booty over to the The
DeskStop and get some justice for all!
Mandolux -
Another fine week of desktop additions have made their
way into the galleries of Mandolux!
Let's look at the latest:
Mandolux
has issued four new desktops: one Clouds & Skies,
one Morning/Spring (Flower/Close-up), and two Technosis/Anthraxis
(Abstract/Dual Giant).
The newest work to enter the galleries came
from what was once a set of great eucalyptus trees by the
freeway, but now lies as a field of trunks. The photograph,
Eucalyptus by the Wind, is of a branch
with three remaining leaves dangling by the wind set against
the blue Southern California sky. Make your way to Mandolux
and grab a look!

One sunny day a man decided
to go jump from an airplane. When he jumped there was
good and bad news...
Good news: He had a parachute.
Bad News: It

Ghost In The
Toilet - A talking toilet
device that reminds men to put the seat down
is proving to be quite popular in Germany. Devised by a
German inventor,
the device is ghost-shaped and sits under the toilet rim.
When the lid is lifted, the ghost shouts out in a female
voice, reminding the man to put the lid down. The "WC
Ghost" may soon be marketed in other countries as
well, including Britain, Canada and Italy. Could
this be the Tidy Bowl Man reinventing himself?! - from Yahoo

New Desktops -
Yowza! Prepare to be pixel pleased as we pull out 6
New Desktops for this week's Desktop Edition.
Your appetite for desktops is about to be filled and then
some with this fine lineup of desktop design. Here we go!
3-D Rendered - You've
waited long enough! And what exactly is it that you have
been waiting for? That would be Waiting
IV from Mr. Alan Sherwood of burntcanvasdesign!
This cool Bryce rendered selection comes from an
older series by Alan of the same name. But his unique
talent in desktop design manages to have a timeless effect
on all desktops, anywhere, anytime!
No need to let your desktop rest in peace
with a second rate selection of
digital design. You can, however, bring about a Peaceful
sense of serenity with this natural choice by Juergen
Eilts. Coming straight from the amazing collections of
ShiftedReality,
Juergen utilizes one of his
desktop tools of choice, making use of Vue 4 Pro to create
this digitized recreation of nature's splendor!
Etc. - Think you just don't
belong? Think that you might just think different?
Then we've got the piece for you! Apple
Manifesto by Joy Tallant from grnluvbug
is a great reminder that it is the misfits that truly
make a difference in this world! So if you just don't
feel like you fit in this crazy race, grab a copy of this
classic Apple statement and start thinking different!
Nature - With the latest
GUI beauty by Bob
Wiley, you won't merely have A
Rose, but a Grade A, number one, class act
in digital photography! The subject in this awe-inspiring
piece was part of a photographic study, which will probably
be the first in what Bob sees as a series
of images to come. How can you top an act like this? Perhaps
with a "Rose of a different color!"
Desktops - Open up your
GUI eye ducts and let the Tears
turn loose for
your desktop view! This most excellent work in digital
design comes to you courtesy of Jameson
Sasser. Sporting his versatile gift of GOO, Jameson
contributes a different mood than most, with an Aqua-esque
appearance and emotional expression. Though its title
may imply a sad goodbye, you may find tears of joy all
over your desktop!
There's no better way to go than to get
the GO! going
with the prolific pixations by
FR4NK! You simply can't be
slow on the go when it comes to this clever creation. The
snail subject in this fine work could perhaps represent
the "rest of the PC world" when it comes to the progress
push made by everyone's favorite feline operating system:
Mac OSX! Enjoy!

iPod Mini Projects
Personality
- Analysts agree that Apple's iPod Mini seems to reflect
people's personalities. People
who are part of the general public become individualized
through the different colors the device offers. iPod Mini
also seems to provide identity by acting as a status symbol.
Though the original iPod carries the same power as a status
symbol, it is believed that iPod Mini will be the one to
inspire innovative design in all digital music players.

Gummi
GUIs -
Flexible computers may find their way into the public's
pockets in as soon as five
years. They will be bendable like a credit card and about
the same size. Sony recently presented the
potential plan through the Gummi Project at the NextFest
Expo in San Francisco. There is a twist to the thin trendy
bendies: Users will hold the mechanism in their
hands and twist it to manipulate the display, so there
will be no need for a mouse or pen. -

MOVIE THEATER MAYHEM
A man was sprawled
across three entire seats in a theater. When the usher
came by
and noticed this, he whispered
to the man, "Sorry sir, but you're only allowed
one seat."
The man groaned but
didn't budge. The usher became impatient. "Sir," the usher said,
"if you don't get up from there, I'm going to have
to call
the manager."
Again,
the man just groaned, which infuriated the usher who turned
and marched briskly back up the aisle in search
of his manager.
In a few moments, both the usher and the
manager returned and stood over the man. Together the
two of them tried repeatedly to move him, but with no success.
Finally, they summoned the police. The cop surveyed the
situation briefly.
"All right, buddy.
What's your name?"
"Sam," the
man moaned.
"Where ya from, Sam?" the
cop asked.
"The balcony."
