New GOO!
New Icons -
Time to start this Pixel Party as we pull out the GUI goodies
for this week's Friday Icon Edition. There's 3
New Icon Sets and 1 new Icon Artist to the galleries as we prepare
to wow your icon eyes! Let's Rock 'n' Roll!
PROvider
- Our first icon rocker simply known as the PROvider
cranks up the pixel tuneage with a most original set titled
iPod Dancers.
This sweet new set was inspired by the Apple iPod adverts
on TV & London Underground. Your desktop will soon
be toe tappin' and ready to dance the night away once
it gets a good look at this great set. Turn up the tunes!
Steve Ansell -
One great thing about the work of Steve
Ansell is that
there is never a dull moment with his creative contributions
to the GUI world. Recessed grabs
a whole new perspective in icon design as they let you
sink into their cool creative style rather than pop out
an icon eye! You'll never look at icons the same after
getting a good glance at this set!
Seldom
are we privileged to get a double shot of delicious GUIness,
but today is one of those
tasty exceptions! Paper
Documents is
this week's second set from Steve
Ansell that serves
as a great treat for your desktop's design. With this
cool collection, Steve offers tromp l'oeil for the rest
of us. That is, your eyes might just be convinced that
the real thing is just a pixel touch away. Enjoy!
Thanks

iPod Promotes Personal Space - It's no bull,
according to researcher Dr. Bull, that Apple's iPod is
helping people to regain their inner space. In a culture
where the population is visually bombarded every time they
turn around, citizens are turning to sound as a release
from the madness. The iPod has become so important to people
because it puts owners back in charge of their own choices.
It acts as a shield, a shelter from the storm of the whacked
out world. - from BBC
Monkie Business - A citizen of New York was
saddened when he had to hand over his monkey buddies this
week. He had six monkeys in his apartment keeping him company.
His prized pets were well behaved and weren't bothering
anybody, but authorities decided they needed a better place
to literally hang around than his apartment. While they
took the man's monkeys to find them some trees, he did
get to keep his dogs, cat and fish. - from Yahoo

balanced diet of Mac fun. Let's start chewin'!
New GOO!
New
Desktops - Hoo doggies! The great desktop works
just keep rollin' in! So this week's Wednesday Desktop Edition
features 2 new artists and 7 New Desktops
for your desktop's delight. Let's dig in!
Nature
- Bringing a breath of fresh air in Nature's form is Max
Vrooman with
his beautiful rendition of Pointsettia. Max's
work is quickly becoming popular around the Monkie
Barrel as even the BeanHead has pushed his work to the
top of her favorite list. And we all know how picky the
Bean is! Excellent stuff!
Desktops - Brand new to
the Monkie Zoo is the artist known as FR4NK
with
a fabulous piece titled Formes.
This most amazing work of art stands in a class of its
own with FR4NK's
own special blend of desktop design. We're certain you'll
love this great work as well as more that are on their
way!
Show time! Marcus Reimann steps out of his
usual pixel shoes and
enters in with a spectacular number called The
Incredibles. This flashy eye design
from Marcus' home of Threeland.de
features the logo of the up and coming super hero flick
of the same name. Between Marcus and the film, will the
real Mr. Incredible please stand up?
Slippin' in stylish design with the magic
muscle of the Mac is the
slick Styles
by Jameson
Sasser. This bright, bold, and beautiful desktop design
by Jameson is reminiscent of the days when the classic
iMac came in all its glory of the fruit filled colors.
A definite hit for your desktop collection!
Answering the age old question of what love is...Get
ready for a big burst of GUI love from Bob
Wiley with his latest masterpiece titled Love
Is (Burst)! Bob's artistic abilities have
certainly blossomed with a big burst of awe and style
as we're confident your eyes will agree! Superb!
Wholly Cow! Well, maybe that best be BULL!
The keen eye of
William D. Thompson
catches the daring move of the Matador with desplantes.
Not sure which subject in this great pic is making the
rudest of moves, but this digital depiction captures the
action with a bold olé!
3-D
Rendered - Gads! Sometimes the abstract creations
of MacMonkies'
Bradford
Wiles are a bit tough to categorize in the naming department.
But with a huge stretch of the imagination,
one might catch a glimpse of Martian
Bounce in the
recent Rover landings on Mars' mysterious red surface.
Enjoy!
Thanks

The Major iPod Mini -
An article in USA Today proclaims the iPod Mini as "a phenomenon." It
states that this dynamo digital music machine mesmerizes
people from the moment they hold one in their hands. Customers'
concerns about its cost go out the window once they experience
this hot little hummer for themselves. iPod Mini is selling
out so successfully the major magazine has labeled it a "smash

Paper PC -
Is it cardboard, is it paper, no! It's a PC made of paperboard!
A company called
Cypak AB has developed the disposable device and it is
currently
being used in Sweden. Mostly the machine is used for healthcare
and pharmaceutical purposes as a storer and collector of
data. It is by no means up to par with other PCs, however,
as it only has thirty-two kilobytes of memory. Talks are
taking place in which the paper PC could be marketed in
the United States shortly. - from Techweb

BEYOND THE
GRAVE
When Mozart passed
away, he was buried in a churchyard. A couple days later,
the town drunk
was walking through
the cemetery and heard some strange noise coming from
the area where Mozart was buried.
Terrified, the
drunk ran and got the town magistrate
to come and listen to it. When the magistrate arrived,
he bent his ear to the grave, listened for a moment,
and said, "Ah,
yes, that's Mozart's Ninth Symphony, being played
backwards." He listened a while longer, and
said, "There's
the Eighth Symphony, and it's backwards, too. Most
puzzling."
So the magistrate kept
listening; "There's
the Seventh...the Sixth...the Fifth..." Suddenly
the realization of what was happening dawned
on the magistrate; he stood up and announced
to the
crowd that had gathered in the cemetery, "My
fellow citizens, there's nothing to worry about.
It's just
Mozart decomposing."
