Gimmie An "R"
A young schoolboy was having a hard time pronouncing
the letter "R," and all the other kids were, of course,
teasing him about it. To help him out, the teacher gave
him a sentence to practice at home: "Robert gave Richard
a rap in the ribs for roasting the rabbit so rare."
In class a few days later, the teacher asked the boy
to recite the sentence out loud.
The boy nervously eyed his classmates--many of them
already laughing at him--then replied, "Bob gave Dick
a poke in the side because the bunny wasn't cooked enough."
Fishing Riddle
On a sunny day, two fathers and two sons went fishing.
Each one of them caught one fish. When they went home,
there were only three fishes, why?
Because a grandfather, a father and a son went fishing.
Confessional Etiquette
The new priest is nervous about hearing confessions,
so he asks an older priest to sit in on his sessions.
The new priest hears a couple confessions, then the old
priest asks him to step out of the confessional for a
few suggestions.
The old priest says, "Cross you arms over your
chest and rub your chin with one hand."
The new priest tries this. The old priest suggests, "Try
saying things like, 'I see,' 'yes,' 'go on,' 'I understand,'
and 'how did you feel about that?'"
The new priest says those things, trying them out. The
old priest says, "Now, don't you think that's a
little better than saying, 'Whoa...What happened next?'"

Site Tweak -
Ahhh...The tweak beat goes on! As I have been doing my
novice best to optimize the Monkie Hut, I noticed several
**seemingly** unnecessary "<div>" tags in the HTML
coding. So, as of this Update, many of them have now
been removed. Since the appearance and functionality
of this site is a high priority for me, I would like
to hear from you if these changes have affected any aspect
of the appearance and/or the load time. If you would

The Boss Is Back - Steve Jobs is back and
sassier than ever. The main Mac man has actually been
back at the office for some time now, but made his first
public appearance since surgery to announce the Apple
mini store last week. Sources that saw him in person
say he looks skinnier, but other than that he looks the
same. His fashion fetish remains familiar, as he appeared
in his same old sneakers, blue jeans, and black shirt.
The press comments that Jobs' personality is up to par,
smart and savvy. He would not offer any comment regarding
his health other than simply to say "I'm back." -

Apple Goes Cross-Platform - It is possible
that much more than meets the eye could be read into
iPod's overwhelming success last quarter. Some are suggesting
that since this secondary sensation sold more than any
other Apple product that Apple may be considering making
iPod its primary product. The ability of the iPod to
act as a catalyst to cross-platform Apple products has
opened the back door into the PC world wide open. It
is proposed that Apple may make iPod and iTunes the center
of its company's attention in order to keep this door
open. - from eChannelLine
Bono Brings
iPod Buzz - Bono, singer of
the top selling iTunes song, is joining Apple CEO Steve
Jobs in bringing some sort of special announcement next
week. Speculators say that something spectacular may
be revealed regarding the iPod. Perhaps an iPod with
pictures, or word of a better-than-ever version of the
music player will plunge iPod fans into Vertigo. The
Edge of the band U2 will be joining Bono and Jobs as
one of the special guests for the special event. The
duo has definitely done their part in teaming up with
Apple, as U2 also appears in the latest greatest iPod
ad. - from ZDNet

What a Wednesday already! There's all kinds of Apple

new Tiger release - as reported by MacMinute.
And then there's a lack of service from our ISP...kinda
makes things a bit bitter sweet! But that's where the Wednesday
Desktop Edition comes to the rescue. With great
new GOO in the Gallery, it makes sweet the sour and adds
to the great taste of the already wonderful. So let's
not fret with the frivolous and have a good ol' GUI time!
New GOO!
New Desktops -
Your desktop is bound to gather in a nice round of applause
as we present a great group of GUI artists from this week's
Desktop Edition! There are 5 New

you may also notice that the Gallery has
a fresh coat of paint for an enhanced viewing experience.

Always a believer in the best of both OS worlds at
their very best,
Bandar Raffa of Tux'n'tosh continues

this cool work of GOO satisfies the minds of the
techno-geek as well as the user-friendly needs of
the pick and click!
Not
that it's the first time the Monkie has been a bit
baffled, but the perfect
placement of the most recent selection by FR4NK is
a bit hard to categorize. Untitled
001 is a scaled down skeletal view of...Well, again,
I'm not sure! Could it be that the Monkie is losing
weight? Fat chance! But never the no mind...A great
picture to place. No bones about it!

Escaping Earth's atmosphere and traveling to
a place beyond your imagination's gravity, Sunrise

created with MojoWorld 2.0. Button up your wind breakers!
Desktops -
The man, the myth, the legend...The ever artistic Victor
Emert with
his emotive provoking pixel skills steps in with a
rather interesting piece titled White
Box. When eyeing this excellent selection, it would
almost appear as though Mr. Emert has found a photograph
of a pre-Apple historic G5! The only question left
is: Where does he get the time machine??!
Nope!
The GUI fires ain't out just yet. Adding glow to the
tail end of our
show is a toasty little number from
MacMonkies Monkie Master
Bradford Wiles with Hot!
This vivid little selection oughta warm up ye old bones
without having to break out the ICY HOT or even have
the concern of breaking a hip. Long story not told,
we'll leave this one on the UPS! Enjoy!

Apple Store Mini Me - Steve Jobs, Apple
CEO, has divulged a smaller design of the Apple Retail
Store for use in shopping malls. The mini store, though
smaller in size, sacrifices nothing in the way of Mac
style. The little version ventures out a bit visually,
with walls that have a shiny steel look and a seamless
ceiling of white. With the mini store, Apple hopes to
reach many more shoppers by showcasing its class in places
it has never gone before. Six minis opened in malls Saturday,
and someday mini stores may even make an entrance into
places such as airports. - from MacCentral
Two Million
iPods Pocketed - iPod sales
have made Apple very proud as of the latest fiscal quarter,
in which over two million iPods were shipped in three
months. Making the two million mark provided Apple with
a $106 million profit, not to mention increasing the
margin of share. The quarter which includes the month
of September seems to be friendly to Apple, as its second
highest quarter was this same one in the year 2000. Apples
iMac G5 isn't shipping as many as the iPod at this time,
but sights for more profit are set high going into the

Time For A Change! -
Good morning, Monkie Heads! A strange thing happened
with my list of "to do's." I woke up this
morning with an all new view! That's right...I finally
got 'er done: The first installment of the Brand
New Site Appearance.
Phew! Was startin' to wonder if it would ever get out
in the open. But as you can see, the doors of delay
have been knocked down and the new view is taking shape.
With that said, let's get on with this Monday and go
totally Ape!
Monkie
News
The New Look -
Well, well, well! After months of meandering, I finally
got me Monkie butt in gear and rearranged the face of
the Monkie Place. Whilst there is still plenty of work
to be done, we thought we would make a list of the changes
already run. Here's a quick look at just some of what
is currently available:
- Translate - This
feature, though it has been available for some
time, did not have a link anywhere on the index.
It is now located in the Directory box at the top.
Now all of our friends from around the globe have
easier access to read in their native "tongue."
- Donate and Advertise - Simply
put, it takes a lot of time and a bit of cash to
keep the Monkie Hut on its feet. These two links
provide our readers and news contributors an opportunity
to help defray our costs. The Advertising link
is currently unavailable, but should be up and
out soon.
- Links - As you
take a look around, you will find all of the reference
links have lost their lines...Underlines, that
is! And if you're uncertain as to whether there's
a link to be found, a simple mouse-over will make
those lines reappear. Good thing we're not dealing
with underwear!
- Gallery - The Gallery
has been long over due for a facelift, as with all
of the pages. Though it is not yet complete, you can
grab a preview of the
upcoming Gallery along with new additions
we find might be very useful. The Gallery may also
include previews of each week's most recent Icons,
Boot Panels, and other GUI items.
- Forums - We DO
have an all new Forum about to be launched. This
should be a great opportunity for all of our Monkie
readers to get involved and help in the area of
questions and general input. Its debut should be
very soon.
- On The Side -
The section previously titled "In Brief" is now
On The Side. It includes Info, Updates, and additional
New headlines. The "jump to" links to each
category at the top of the column are now very obvious.
They were there before, but only if you knew they were "hidden" on
the header button.
- CSS -
The cascading style sheet is a wonderful tool!
The current CSS has been revamped making formatting
updates easier on this end, and should make page
loading much snappier for you. Though I am a
novice in this department, I think most all is
in working order.
- Misc.
Tweaks -
Though almost everything on the index is complete,
there are still miscellaneous tweaks - from
appearance to code changes - to be made.
Phew! That was an eyeful! Anyway, we
hope you enjoy the changes. And as always, if you have
any comments or input to offer, feel free to jump over
to the Comments page and drop us a line!

Penny For Your Thoughts
What does one penny say to the other penny?
Let's get together and make some cents!
Blonde Paint
A blonde decides to show her husband that despite what
everyone says, blondes really are smart.
While her husband is at work, she decides that she is
going to paint the living room in their house. So the
next day as soon as he leaves, she gets down to the task
at hand.
Her husband arrives home after work and smells the distinctive
smell of paint. He walks into the living room and finds
his wife lying on the floor in a pool of sweat. He notices
that she is wearing a parka and a mink. He asks her what
she is doing. She replies that she wanted to prove to
him that not all blonde women are dumb and she wanted
to do it by painting the room.
He says that he was impressed at the good job she had
done, but what's with her wearing the two coats?
She replies that she was reading the directions on the
paint can and they said:
"FOR BEST RESULTS, PUT
ON TWO COATS!"
Happy Meal
What did one cannibal say to the other cannibal when
they were eating a clown?
Does this taste funny to you?
Who's That Dog?
There was a hound dog laying in the yard and an old
geezer in overalls was sitting on the porch. "Excuse
me, sir, but does your dog bite?" a tourist asked.
The
old man looked up over his newspaper and replied, "Nope."
As soon as the tourist stepped out of his car, the dog
began snarling and growling, and then attacked both
his arms and legs. As the tourist flailed around in the
dust, he yelled, "I thought you said your dog didn't bite!"
The old man muttered, "Ain't my dog."
