Bill Gates' Diary
Steve Jobs started work today. The silverware looks great, but he doesn't
do windows -- yet. Yeah, right.
The baby cries constantly. Maybe I'll buy Fisher-Price.
Bought my first Macintosh. It's sooooo cute!
Good day. Found over 15 bucks' worth of soda cans in the trash bins outside
Microsoft headquarters.
Bad day. Ellison sent back the heads of two of the three hit men I hired,
along with a note saying he ate the third one whole.
Reminder: 35-cent Snapple coupon expires in two days!
Memo to self: Next time, when my wife says we need to buy china, she means
dishes.
Board Meeting, All Attend
After a long, dry sermon, the minister announced that he wished to meet
with the church board members following the close of the service. However,
the first man to arrive was a total stranger.
"You misunderstood my announcement. This is a meeting of the board," said
the minister.
"I know," said the man, "but if there is anyone here more
bored than I am, I'd like to meet him."
Devil's Deed
A lawyer was approached by Lucifer and was told - "If you want to win
every case from now on, be elected Judge, then Supreme Court, then governor
and finally President of the USA, just sign this contract for your soul,
your wife's soul, and the souls of your children!"
The lawyer said, "Well, OK...But what's the catch?"
Self-Help Books
So this computer scientist is like a real uptight guy, uncomfortable in
his own skin, has a hard time relating to people, you know the type, right?
So he's in a bookstore, see's a book called "How to Hug," so
he thinks yes, this could really help him. So he buys it, takes it home,
starts to read it, and darned it if isn't volume 8 of an encyclopedia!

iPod Keeps Apple On Top - Apple's iPod has
not only sent it soaring to the top, but so far iPod has kept it there. But
the question remains as to whether iPod can keep Apple the title of the top
dog in the domain of digital music players. It seems Apple could encounter
some obstacles since no electronics company has ever held the lead for this
long, but with the nano momentum and the right price, it doesn't seem likely. -

iPod nano Steals The Show - Though the long
awaited iTunes phone was introduced last week, Apple stole the show with
the iPod nano. Nano received many more cheers and applause than the iTunes
phone, making it the product of the hour. Some suspected Apple had something
up its sleeve due to the announcement saying "Here we go again." And,
as usual, Apple delivered. - from IC

Bill Cosby Rules Domain - It seems that some
fuddy duddies were trying to get funky
by using the domain name of fatalbert.org to display some funny business
on the web. Well, actually, the website was anything but funny. And when
comedian Bill Cosby found that these people were perverting the name of his
cartoon character Fat Albert, he took them to court and won possession of
the domain name. -

At The Top - Whoa doggies! We've got quite
the chunk of Monkie stuff to cover for this week's Wednesday
Desktop Edition.
From Community News with The
Iconfactory's latest icon freeware release, to SW
News On The Net with the availability of Default
Folder X 2.0.3 from
St. Clair Software, and some Bananas to
whip the wayward ways of the mid-week bump known as hump day. But that's
not all! This edition's spotlight is of course the new view in desktop
GOO found just a few lines below.
One last thing...The Main Monkie's cold bug may in actuality
be a case of strep throat. Though this bug is certainly not transferable
via the web, he may find his butt in bed the next couple of days pending
the results of his throat culture. If positive, Thursday and Friday's updates
may be canceled. We'll keep you posted. That said, let's get down to the
fun!
New GOO!
New Desktops -
Well, well, well! What might we find inside a well of GUI goodies? That would
be a trio of fine works with 3 New Desktops for this week's Desktop Edition!
Let's have a looksy!
Logos - With the latest in desktop selections
from XÅERO STUDIOS titled Sparky,
we must admit we're a bit out of our descriptive
element. Francisco Bennett delivers this ultra-sharp piece of pixel work
as part of his Captain Pyrite's Crew collection. After having done some
Googlin' and a search at iTunes, Captain Pyrite appears to be a rock band.
And the likes of Sparky? You've got me...Pardon me ignorance!
3-D Rendered - Juergen Eilts, the master
of nature's recreative digital mastery
from ShiftedReality is
back with a most amazing alternative view of a previous desktop canvas
titled Shimuna.
With his new incarnation - Shimuna
Revisited - Juergen really let's his talents shine in this number
created with Terragen 0.9.19. If you're trying to fathom how he does
it, you're bette off wonder: Is it live, or is it Memorex!
Desktops - So what does one get when you
light the fuse inside a color factory and blow its contents sky high? That
would be ColoSplosion by
MacMonkies' Bradford Wiles! Not quite sure
how it was done other than saying it evolved from a desktop snapshot of
iTunes visual effects and then run through a Photoshop filter. All questions
aside, this **is** a loud one, so we highly recommend pulling out your
shades...Enjoy!
Thanks Department --
Francisco, and Juergen...
There simply aren't adequate words to describe
your priceless pixel abilities!

Lawbreaker
Q. Which servant of Jehovah was the most flagrant lawbreaker in the Bible?
A.
Moses. Because he broke all 10 commandments at once.
College Graduate
A young man, hired by a supermarket, reported for his first day of work.
The manager greeted him with a warm handshake and a smile, gave him a broom
and said, "Your first job will be to sweep out the store."
"But I'm a college graduate," the young man replied indignantly.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know that," said the manager. "Here,
give me the broom, I'll show you how."
Handsome Tip
A man finds his seat in the theater, but it's too far from the stage. He
whispers to the usher, "This is a mystery and I have to watch a mystery
close up. Get me a better seat, and I'll give you a handsome tip."
The usher moves him to the second row, and the man hands the usher a quarter.
The usher looks at the quarter and then leans over and whispers, "The
wife did it."
Surf Sandwich
A creature rose up out of the surf and came ashore. Its garments were made
of green sea lettuce.
"I am the friendly witch of the sand," she said. "Do not
be alarmed. I am only going to sunbathe."
The sun was terribly hot. Her skin began to bake and it turned as red as
a ripe tomato!
No one on the beach had ever before seen a baking lettuce and tomato sand
witch.

Nano Knocks Out iPod Mini - The new iPod
nano, which is smaller than a business card and half as thin as the original
iPod, is causing Apple to oust the iPod mini for a number of reasons. First
of all, it combines the performance of the original iPod with the weightlessness
of the iPod shuffle. Secondly, it has flash memory rather than hard drive
storage, thus changing the rules of the MP3 player game. -

Apple Patents Auto iPod Dock - In Apples pursuit
to get an iPod in everyone's hand, it now appears to be seeking a way to
get an iPod in everyone's car. The company has patented a product which will
allow anyone to play their iPods in their vehicles. There are no pictures
available yet of the design of this iPod dock, but it should allow people
to place their iPods in the cup holders of their cars. -

Nokia iPhone Not In The Cards - Now that
the Motorola iPhone has been introduced, there is talk of many other brands
besides Motorola wanting to carry iTunes on their phones. It is speculated,
however, that Nokia will not be one of these brands, as it has already made
arrangements with Microsoft to use its Digital Rights Management technology.
Also, a Nokia iTunes phone probably wouldn't rake in the dough for Nokia
or Apple. - from Technology

Bad router, fiber cuts, and overtime...What a week! So what's all this
mean? Let's just say that for a day and a half, you couldn't contact us,

A Soul From Purgatory
In the 15th Century, the Church announced that it was possible to liberate
a soul from purgatory by giving alms. The story goes that in Madrid, the
Count of Villamediana, who loved a good joke, entered a church one day and
encountered a priest with a collection tray, asking for money to save the
souls in purgatory. The count dropped a gold coin in the tray.
"Are you sure my contribution will liberate a soul from its torment," he
asked.
"Absolutely," answered the priest.
"Then," continued the count, "since I have already given
you my alms, that soul has left purgatory."
"Yes," responded the priest, "that soul has just left purgatory."
Villamediana then took the coin from the tray and put it back in his pocket,
saying, "Well. He'll be a fool if he goes back in!"
Chickens Got Loose
The farmer's son was returning from the market with the crate of chicken's
his father had entrusted to him, when all of a sudden the box fell and broke
open. Chickens scurried off in different directions, but the determined boy
walked all over the neighborhood scooping up the wayward birds and returning
them to the repaired crate. Hoping he had found them all, the boy reluctantly
returned home, expecting the worst.
"Pa, the chickens got loose," the boy confessed sadly, "but
I managed to find all twelve of them."
"Well, you did real good, son," the farmer beamed. "You left
with seven."
Carrot Groaner
(You really ought to just delete this now...)
Two carrots were walking down the road when a huge truck slammed into one
of them. An ambulance was called and they rushed the little fellow off to
the hospital where he immediately went into hours of surgery.
Finally the doctor emerged and approached the other carrot who had been
anxiously awaiting in the waiting room.
"Tell me" said the carrot, "how is he?"
The doctor replied, "I have good news and bad news. I'll give you the
good first. He's going to live, but he'll be a vegetable for the rest of
his life."
Carried Away in a Speech
A man is giving a speech at his lodge meeting. He gets a bit carried away
and talks for two hours.
Finally, he realizes what he is doing and says; "I'm sorry I talked
so long. I left my watch at home."
A voice from the back of the room says, "There's a calendar behind
you."
