Apple Ripe
As Ever - The state of Steve
Jobs' health has caused some questions as to the state
of his company.
BusinessWeek presents a mix of multifaceted pieces, coming
up with the conclusion that Apple is doing better than
ever. Beyond the success of the iPod, Apple has also extended
itself into the areas of higher education and government
and raised cash reserves in the amount of $4.6 billion.
All in all, Jobs' company is justified in doing just fine
for itself. - from MacObserver and BusinessWeek
Jobs Jump Starts Fans - Ever since Steve
Jobs had surgery, Apple fans have been stepping up to bat
in support. They have been crawling out of the woodwork
to show their sympathy, high-trafficking Mac sites and
flooding forums. Even Apple has been overwhelmed with notes
from fans willing to offer Steve Jobs whatever he needs.
Such a strong reaction can be expected from the Mac community
when the chief executive who started it all shares close
encounters of the surgical kind. - from Wired

At The Top -
Whew! What a week. Sicker than a dog in a Monkie cage,
but am now finally shaking it all away. But hey! It's the
middle of the week and you know what that means: Time for
fun with your Wednesday Desktop Edition!
And this one is a real hum dinger. Plus you'll find your
dose of News and
Humor to get you over the bump of the hump. So let's mute
the Monkie and get to the goods!
New GOO!
New Desktops -
Oh yeah! This week's pixel party is packed with eye candy
fun as we pull out 6 New Desktops for
your viewing pleasures. No need for me to ramble. Let's
let the pixels do the talkin'. Shall we?
3-D
Rendered - Flowers are forever! At least
these cool pixel petals by Bob
Wiley will be forever in bloom in your desktop
garden. Flowerage
2 is yet another unique selection from the
talented hands of Mr. Wiley. Though the content may appear
man made, it actually comes from photography by Ed Phelps.
Just
as aluminum makes for a great case for Apple's new Power
Book, Alu
X Three Balls by
the clever pixel pusher at elpincho
Designs weighs in as a most masterfully made desktop
selection for your eye candy collections. Though simple
in style, this outstanding number will stand out without
making a mess of your desk!
Nature -
Nature is calling! How to you get knee deep in the river
without setting foot outside your door? Simply place Austin on
your desktop and you'll be floatin' down the river in
no time! It seems Stephen
Anderson knows no limits in combining nature's beauty
with his own stylistic creativity. Way cool!
Desktops -
Monkies and Tigers and Bears...Okay. There's been no
bears in this neck of the woods, but along with FR4NK's recent
Monkey work, Mac
Tiger makes for a great chase in the race
of fine pixel portraits! With this bright and bold creation,
you'll find all eyes will be on you. Just think: A watch
Tiger is better than a watch dog any day!
The
second selection of professional works from XÅERO
Graphics Design Studio sports the symbolism of the
Chinese dualistic philosophy Yin & Yang.
The original symbol comes from the Chinese' observation
of the Sun's cycle, thus creating a Sun chart. Now
you have both history and philosophy along with Francisco
Bennett's amazing talents!
Sometimes
simply adding the touch of a Photoshop filter can give
a whole
new look to an already rendered pic. This would be just
the case with Blur by MacMonkies' Bradford
Wiles. Having gone through a number of previous turns,
this particular piece is simply a touched up version
of About
To Break. Which, of course, was a rework of a rework
of a...Well, you get the picture. Enjoy!
Thanks

Surgeon Gets The Jobs Done -
Apple's Head Honcho has successfully come out of surgery
for pancreatic
cancer. Steve Jobs,
Apple CEO, went under the knife over the weekend. He is
recuperating from his rare condition this month and says
that he will step back into action in September. Jobs thanked
God in an e-mail to his employees that his cancer was not
the more common kind, and thus is not expected to recur.
Professionals give him a very promising prognosis. - from

iPod
Points To Perpetrators - An Apple iPod
has come to the aid of police when capturing a gang of
car criminals. Upon seeing a long line of top-of-the-line
vehicles parked in front of the same place, police performed
a search. Eyeing the iPod, police determined that there
was loads of data stored on it, including forged documents
dealing with the car thefts. The cops were then able to
capture the entire gang of criminals. -
