Apple May Broaden Music Monopoly - Rumors are running rampant that Apple may be purchasing other online music companies in order to start subscription services. HipSolve media is the company of hearsay, to which Apple has supposedly made an offer. If Apple were to acquire such a service, it may broaden its horizons with Windows customers. iTunes, however, has made such a popular household name for itself that it seems Apple could not run music programs under any other name. - from The Register

Paying With Fingerprints - For those who hate waiting in line at the In A Snap of the Finger Prints!grocery store, their day has finally come! Stores in Germany have begun scanning customers' fingerprints for payment, cutting down on scrambling for change in line. George and Moses

George W. Bush, in an airport lobby, noticed a man in a long flowing
white robe with a long flowing white beard and flowing white hair. The
man had a staff in one hand and some stone tablets under the other arm.

George W. approached the man and inquired, "Aren't you Moses?"

The man ignored George W. and stared at the ceiling.

George W. positioned himself more directly in the man's view and asked
again, "Aren't you Moses?"

The man continued to peruse the ceiling.

George W. tugged at the man's sleeve and asked once again, "Aren't you
Moses."

The man finally responded in an irritated voice, "Yes I am."

George W. asked him why he was so uppity and the man replied, "The last time a bush spoke to me I ended up spending forty years in the wilderness."

Discussion Of Digital IDs - As a way to deter identity theft, experts are Digital Identitiesdiscussing the idea of digital identities. Sales on the internet are declining due to a lack of trust from identity theft, and digital identities would be one possible way to gain the trust of the public back again. There are some drawbacks, however. For example, if digital identities were to take over personal passwords, the question would become where to store all the information. - from PCWorld

Odds and Ends

CPR: Not Such A Cinch - Medical experts are perturbed that TV medical dramas suggest that people who receive CPR usually recover; the truth is, only about 15 percent of victims survive after receiving CPR.

You Got The Guts? - A bird "chews" with its stomach. Since most birds do not have teeth, a bird routinely swallows small pebbles and gravel. These grits become vigorously agitated in the bird's stomach and serve to grind food as it passes through the digestive system.

Don't Say "Cheese" - Cooking expert Julia Child doesn't say "cheese" for photographs, claiming it doesn't work at making her smile. Instead, she says "chardonnay" or "souffle."

Men, Women, And Baseball - Saying that men talk about baseball in order to avoid talking about their feelings is the same as saying that women talk about their feelings in order to avoid talking about baseball.

- Deborah Tannen

Viva la Victory! - Many a man has finally succeeded only because he has failed after repeated efforts. If he had never met defeat he would never have known any great victory.

- Orison Swett Marden

Wisdom - Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish.

Ferry Boy

Every morning a man drives to the dock, and every morning the man takes the ferry to work. One morning, he wakes up, and has no electricity. He has no idea what time it is, but assumes he's late since he has a tendency to sleep late anyway. So he slams down some breakfast, hauls butt to the dock, sees the ferry ten feet from the dock, and takes a running leap. He barely makes it, skidding across the deck of the boat, and hurting himself quite badly.

"You know," said the captain, "in another minute we would have docked."
