Intel Macs Still Safe - Some concern has
been raised over the safety of Mac computers now that they house Intel chips.
Is there any way the Intel chips can compromise the safety of the Mac making
Apple as susceptible to attacks as PCs are? The answer is no. Analysts agree
that in order to attack Apple machines hackers would have to go through the
outside operating system, not through the chips inside. -

Pixar Provides Perfect Power Trip - With
Apple's 30th anniversary on the way April 1st, its president could not be
sitting in a more coveted position than he is today. Not only has Apple passed
Dell in the sale of electronics, but the success of Pixar has put Steve Jobs
in the perfect position to land himself smack dab in the center of the big
business world. This would make him one of the most powerful and influential
investors ever. - from Fortune
Balloons Boost Technology - After discovering
how much space cell phone towers take up and considering the way they clutter
up the land, an alternative to cell phone towers is now being tested. North
Dakota is hosting a trial of balloons to take the place of the towers, flying
above the land with wireless networking capabilities. The balloons are disposable
and more efficient as three balloons can provide coverage for the entire
state. - from Wired

Laughing By Numbers
Phil had just joined a club after his friend had recommended it (being
a member for quite some time). They were sitting at the bar having their
beers when someone yelled "21" and there was a small uproar of
laughter. A few minutes later someone else yelled "34" and another
roar of laughter rose up.
Phil, confused about this asked his friend, "Why
is everyone laughing at the numbers being called out?"
His friend
said, "Well we've been telling the same jokes for so many years that
we just numbered them all and if you want to tell a joke you just call
out a number."
Phil
nodded and said, "Can I try?"
His friend nodded and Phil
called out "121" and everyone in the club roared with laughter
and it didn't die down for at least another 15 minutes after.
"Why
did everyone laugh so hard at that joke?" Phil asked.
His friend
said with a small chuckle "We haven't heard that one before."

How 'Bout Them Tators!
A train was traveling to California carrying truckloads of potatoes. On
the way, the train jumped the track and all the potatoes spilled out. Two
potatoes met, fell in love and got married. They had a baby girl named
Sweet Potato. She grew up to be 18 years old, and came home one way and
said she wanted to get married. Her parents asked whom she wanted to marry.
She replied "Walter Cronkite."
Her parents started weeping, crying
and wailing. Her mother said she could not marry him. Sweet Potato asked
why not, she loved him. Her mother replied "Why would you want to
marry him, he's just a common tator."
All Too Hoppy
Mother and father rabbit were talking about the children after they had
been put to bed.
"Why was Junior so happy this evening?" asked father rabbit.
"Well,"
explained mother rabbit, "he had a marvelous
time at school. He learned to multiply!"

New And Improved iMac - iMac with Intel remains
just as impressive on the outside and even more impressive on the inside.
Far from being a drab duplicate, Intel chip has added to the impression of
iMac by running programs better and using less heat. This was no small feat
as many supporting chips had to be switched out as well as putting the new
Intel chip inside. So be sure not to judge iMac simply by its cover. -

iTunes U'niversity - Apple is putting its
domination of the digital world to work for college students across the nation.
It piloted a program called iTunes U with six universities last year in which
lectures were made available for download on iTunes. Since iTunes is the
most popular interface for students, the program proved highly successful
and schools throughout the states are now able to sign up for this service. -

Katrina May Spark eTax - After hurricane Katrina
hit, one of the main things people missed is their internet service. So much
money was spent to get the internet up and running again that the question
of funds came into play. One rumor spreading is that a tax could be served
on websites such as iTunes that offer downloadable services in which the
websites themselves would have to give up a percentage of their profit. -

We Want Your Help - Last week, we were fortunate
to have our host move the "Monkie Hut" to a swift new server. The results
included a new dedicated IP address (206.53.51.241)
and much better connect times (up to twice as fast). However, somewhere in
the move process, our Form Mail script form the Comment page mysteriously
turned up broken. Best I can tell, nothing has changed as far as paths and
permissions. But know matter how hard I try, I cannot find the problem. So,
if you are script savvy and would like to help us track down the mystery,
please drop us a line at: info@macmonkies.com. Thanks!

Odds and Ends
Heart On A Sleeve - In the Middle Ages,
young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would
be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your
heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for other people to know how
you are feeling.
BIG Squish - In Port Lincoln, Australia,
oyster eaters seldom try to gulp down whole specimens; oysters there are
as big as a large dinner plate – a foot in diameter.
Lemon Up - Lithiated Lemon was the creation
of Charles Griggs from Missouri, who introduced the lemon-lime drink in 1929.
Four years later he renamed it 7-Up. Sales increased significantly.
The Archives Of Love - An archeologist is
the best husband any woman can have; the older she gets, the more interested
he is in her.
- Agatha Christie
Really? - The streets are safe in
Philadelphia. It's only the people who make them unsafe.
- Frank Rizzo
Parting Shot - If your parents never had
children, chances are you won’t either.

Just A Game
Charlie took his girl friend to her first football game. They had really
good seats, right above their team's dugout. At the end of the game, Charlie
asked her if she liked it.
"Yeah, it was great," she said. "I
mean, with all the tight pants and stuff. I just don't get why all the fuss
about a quarter!" Charlie is confused.
"At the beginning of the
game," she explained, "I saw the two guys flip a quarter. Then
the rest of the game, all they said was: Get the quarterback! Get the quarterback!
Hello! It's only 25 cents!"

Guidance Counselor: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Student: In
a mirror...duh.
The Big Pink
A lady walking down the street one day saw a man walking towards her. The
man was talking to himself, waving his arms around his head and jumping up
and down three times. He repeated this several times. The lady asked the
man what he was doing. The man replied, "I am keeping the pink elephants
away."
The lady replied, "Why? There are no pink elephants around here."
The man replied, "I know, works great doesn't it?"
Dumb, De Dumb Dumb
"Young woman," said the judge, "this court is going
to see to it that you receive one thousand dollars a month in alimony."
"Thanks," the husband spoke up, "and I'll try to
give her a few bucks myself."
